Have you considered the Yotank? I believe the front is secured to the back by being screwed or Allen-keyed so technically, the case should allow you with some flexibility in terms of size.

You need to transfer the songs to your friends laptop and import them into itunes, then your friend can sync his iPod with iTunes on his computer. You may be able to use Finder (mac) or Explorer (windows) to transfer the songs using the iPod as a HDD
