Grace Design x Massdrop m9XX DAC/Amp Review: First Impressions
I'm still kind of confused on the hybrid volume control design: Is there a potentiometer involved? When is the volume controlled in the digital vs. analog domain?- Rimbaud

New Grace Design m920 DAC/amp with DSD decoding
The speakers were from Ascend Acoustics. Never again! Your experience with other manufacurers providing support for their products purchased off of Massdrop is encouraging. As far as KEF goes, it's encouraging that they have an authorized outlet for factory seconds or returns: ...- Rimbaud

New Grace Design m920 DAC/amp with DSD decoding
I'm tracking Massdrop to see if the m920 drops again. However, my one prior experience with a Massdrop didn't go well: I received some defective speakers and was advised by the manufacturer that their warranty didn't apply to Massdrop-purchased speakers. I had to initiate a credit card...- Rimbaud

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Well I did some reading in the Mad Lust Envy gaming thread and decided to order the Mediabridge cable from Amazon. I preferred the looks/specs of the Fisio S-Flex cables (on Amazon UK), but it didn't look like shipment to the US was possible.- Rimbaud

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
I'd like to upgrade the cable on my X1's - the V-Moda Audio Only cable that appears to be the standard replacement for the X1 is too short for my needs. Can anyone recommend another high quality-for-the-buck cable in the 8-10 ft. range? Budget is $50 max. Prefer 1/8in / 3.5mm plug.- Rimbaud

The Ultrasone Signature Pro is on the list in the original post, but was never mentioned again (unless I missed it). I'm wondering why that is.- Rimbaud

Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread
Dang dude - you had me excited there for a second! I have some 7520's en route, and I'm sending my MA900's back (they have a defect in the headband). I'm hoping the 7520's meet all my needs for a home headphone, but I've been reading about lack of soundstage. I may have to order another...- Rimbaud

Best Over ear closed cans for £250/$350
I don't know if they're "the best," but the B&O H6 seems to be one of the better options available. Well made, excellent comfort, with an open sound that belies their closed design. I can't detect any particular emphasis or coloration of any part of the spectrum (but I'm no expert, either)...- Rimbaud

Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6 Discussion Thread
Yes B&O skimped on the accessories. The packaging box is nice though! Does the KEF M500 have a 4-pole, 3.5mm jack as well? If so I'd be curious as to what replacement cable people are using. The one I purchased is coming from China so it might take a while. I'm not a good judge...- Rimbaud

Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6 Discussion Thread
So I figured out that these are 4-pole plugs. I just purchased a cheap ($5) 4-pole, 3.5mm aux cable off of ebay to hopefully get me by until I can figure out a better quality option.- Rimbaud

Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6 Discussion Thread
I just picked up a pair of these, and I've been quite impressed so far. The H6 will primarily be a home headphone for me, and as such I'd like to get a longer cable. The phone plugs on the supplied cable have triple grooves rather than the standard two grooves for a stereo jack. Are there...- Rimbaud

Can't understand this 6moons review
That was shorthand for multiple problems, including scratches/gouges on the faceplate, and a beveled cutout for a headphone jack that looked like it had been cut with a broken tool. I didn't want to flame the company too much at the time of my first post, but at this point I don't care.- Rimbaud

Can't understand this 6moons review
I thought I'd update my situation: AMI finally, after FIVE MONTHS, sent me a payment. Only they sent it as a paypal payment rather than a refund, causing me to lose additional money for the paypal fee. Much worse than that, they subtracted 20% of the purchase price for "open box." They...- Rimbaud

Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread
I recently purchase these and I'm really impressed with the performance. However, the carboad packaging compressed dents into the ear pads, and several days later the pads haven't filled back out. I contacted Sony USA and was advised that while there is a part # for the pads, the part # is...- Rimbaud

Can't understand this 6moons review
I feel I should caution any head-fiers who are considering making a purchase from AMI Int'l. I ordered a DDH-1 DAC/amp last Sept, largely influenced by the in-depth and positive review on 6moons. When the amp arrived I immediately noticed that the finishing was not up to the level of the...- Rimbaud

NAD M51 Direct Digital DAC Impressions
I'm seriously considering a M51 for use as a preamp. Can anyone give me a sense of how low the volume would have to be before running out of bit headroom (when data is lost)? Specifically for redbook and 24/96. I don't have to worry about the high end - there's no way I'll be going above...- Rimbaud

Amp with built-in Dolby Heaphone?
jello, Yes, but at that point I wouldn't be using the Pioneer unit with the Dolby Headphone processing! The Pioneer has no other output with a processed signal. Not ideal, but I see no other alternative at the moment (assuming the receiver doesn't have DH, like the new Denon's).- Rimbaud
