Best bluetooth earbuds?
I give up. I have spent hundreds of pounds on high-quality IEMs over years and the result has always been the same - they never last (fixed cable: breaks; replaceable cable: loses connection). I use earbuds for many hours each day. The question hence is - what are the best true wireless earbuds...- theriel

MEE Audio Pinnacle P1 - $199 Dynamic Driver Flagship *Reviews 2nd Post*
On a related note - do you guys know if using the wireless cable (BTX1) affects the performance? Or is the transmission fully digital and there is no impact on sound quality?- theriel

MEE Audio Pinnacle P1 - $199 Dynamic Driver Flagship *Reviews 2nd Post*
Thank you all! I have just received the P1s - to be fair, unpacking experience was definitely impressive. And I did not expect such a nice metal finish. Time to listen to them a bit. So far they seem quite fun (I am coming from HF5), though on the limit of being drivable by a smartphone...- theriel

Midrange IEMs with microphone (headset)?
@TImeshock - I never post on any forum without having done any research myself. But I must admit that there have been few topics dedicated specifically to IEMs with microphone. The reason why i have been asking (and hoping to get more responses from other people) is because I consider paying...- theriel

Midrange IEMs with microphone (headset)?
OK, so... regarding noise-cancelling IEMs with microphone, without the over-the-ear design, we only have the choice of HF5 and MEE (which ends up costing even more than HF5 once you add the extra cable) ? That seems crazy. Oh well, I guess I might as well get used to the over-the-ear cabling...- theriel

Midrange IEMs with microphone (headset)?
Unless I am mistaken, all the options mentioned, unlike Etymotics HF3, have over-the-ear cabling... ? I guess that's what you have to get if you want a detachable cable at this price range... So, really, not many options with already built-in microphone, apart from HF3, B&O H3, and the...- theriel

Midrange IEMs with microphone (headset)?
@Timeshock - This is a good idea, but there aren't really that many IEMs with detachable cable at HF3 price ($120), or even sub-$200... with the notable exception of Shure SE215. @artpiggo - UE900 are available in the UK only at $400 (sic)...- theriel

Midrange IEMs with microphone (headset)?
Hello, Most of discussion on this forum concerns IEMs without a microphone. Having used Etymotic Research HF3 (effectively HF5 with microphone), i have been wondering - what are the alternatives, at similar price range? So far I have only managed to find B&O H3. All the usual recommendations...- theriel

Alternative to Etymotic HF2/5
Hello, For a long time I have been using Etymotic Research HF2 (=HF5 with a microphone) with Shure foams. They recently broke down (again, after 8 months of intensive, inc gym, usage). The recent price increase in the UK has forced me to look elsewhere. I am looking for alternatives which...- theriel

Shanling M1: An iPod Nano Competitor / DAP || USB DAC || USB Transport || Bluetooth 4.0 + aptX || DSD
So would I, but... given that it's a Chinese producer with no representatives in Europe (and without even proper levels of inventories in Europe), what are my choices? Post a package to China which will cost me almost the same as the player and take a month to reach the manufacturer (and another...- theriel

Shanling M1: An iPod Nano Competitor / DAP || USB DAC || USB Transport || Bluetooth 4.0 + aptX || DSD
Woohoo, just got my M1. Shipment from the Spanish retailer somebody recommended in the past. Now... it seems like my bottom-left corner of the screen... "clicks". It means that either: (1) I have a VIP-only device with an extra button on the screen (unlikely); or (2) Shanling's quality...- theriel

Shanling M1: An iPod Nano Competitor / DAP || USB DAC || USB Transport || Bluetooth 4.0 + aptX || DSD
What's the consensus on firmware updates? After receiving M1, should I update it to the newest version straight away (which one?) or should I avoid it because it could brick the device (as some posts in this thread indicated)? Thanks for your thoughts!- theriel

Hi guys, So... what is currently the best source to buy from for UK-based customers? Any retailer anywhere in the world who is reliable, ships fast, and doesn't charge exorbitant prices? Thank you for help!- theriel

Best small, portable music player for running?
wski - thank you so much for mentioning these two players! They look great. I am quite surprised that there is so little/no info about Hidizs AP60 on Head-Fi (unless my search abilities are just crap). I have seen the Shanling M1 thread. Could you please help me understand the difference...- theriel

Best small, portable music player for running?
Hello, I am looking for a quality portable music player for running (which reads FLAC and OGG). Previously I used Sansa Zip but... it has been discontinued. So I need to find a replacement, to use with my Ethymotics hf5. I have done plenty of research and it seems like the main contenders...- theriel

Audio-gd NFB-11 - "switching" sound, delay
Bump? This seems to be an extremely annoying "feature" of this amplifier, almost disqualifying it from any use (listening to music without the first 1-2 seconds? no thank you....) - I am sure that all of you have come up with an easy solution! Thank you in advance for your kind help.- theriel

Audio-GD NFB-11.32 & NFB-11 (2014) (Delivery & Impression Thread)!!!
Jakkal - thank you for the response! But it doesn't tell me which frequency I should just choose and forget about it :). So, to ask differently - is there any problem with setting foobar and windows to 32/192, if I ultimately end up playing 16/44.1 music or some bluray movies (which I...- theriel

Audio-GD NFB-11.32 & NFB-11 (2014) (Delivery & Impression Thread)!!!
Hello, Having just received NFB-11 (and loving it), I have a quick question - what is the consensus on the correct configuration of the PC? The information in this thread seems to be contradictory. I would like to use it for music (foobar, mostly), but also sporadically for movies and games. ...- theriel

Audio-gd NFB-11 - "switching" sound, delay
Hello, I have just purchased NFB-11 and.... wow - it's an amazing little piece of equipment! I have a problem, though. When I switch songs on my playlist (foobar) there is an audible "clicking" sound coming from the amplifier. Subsequently, there is no music for the next couple of seconds -...- theriel

Looking for ~$300 DAC + amp
That is a very good suggestion, burgunder. In this thread, cel4145, who seems to be H-F veteran, stated that he considered Asgard 2 -> NFB-11 to have been an upgrade. Even if they are of comparable quality, I guess the fact that NFB-11 is less of a heater would be a plus for me. I like also the...- theriel

Looking for ~$300 DAC + amp
Having read tons of threads on this forum (most helpful!) I am leaning towards Modi (USB) + Asgard 2. Together with shipping, the damage will be USD 400. Is there any better alternative at that price? Thank you for help!- theriel

Looking for ~$300 DAC + amp
Hello, I am looking to connect Sennheiser HD600 to my Media PC while achieving the best quality sound at (hopefully) reasonable price. I have all the music stored in FLAC. My Media PC has Realtek ALC1150 (built on Asus board) which supports SPDIF out. Thus, I am looking for an affordable...- theriel

Replacement for Etymotic Research HF5.... (~100 GBP)
Heyah, I have been using Etymotic Research HF5 for about a year. Alas, the cable died and - as the insurer has paid the money - the time has come to buy new earphones. I like the sound signature of HF5. I wouldn't mind slightly more bass, but otherwise I enjoyed them. Alas, as I use the...- theriel
