I rescue this thread to highlight that the Cowon J3 is still my one and only portable player after more than 10 years (I've just had to replace the battery one time). It sounds glorious with the Moondrop CHU :ksc75smile: and it can perfectly drive the Audeze LCD-2 :o2smile:

Did a battery test, no EQ, screen off, shuffle all (internal and external folders), volume 20/40 through old sennheiser CX300 iems, I got 43 hours and 15 minutes! Crazy battery life! Last time was a little over two years ago and I had "almost 45 hours" (it's in this thread) so I'm super happy...

Hi! My cowon J3 is 10 years old now, Should I start to look for a replacement, or should I just tune it up? Battery is fine but I don't mind change it now for future profit, I have 32gb internal and 64gb external, how far can I go? Is any new better DAP now? I don't look for hi resolution...

This was a really long ago, I recommend checking this link with a search of the thread for 'battery' You will need to cut the wires off the old battery leaving them connected to the circuit board side. Then solder them onto the correct battery terminals Read closely to any comments by Mython...

I did not have to use sandpaper to make the BA700 fit at the Cowon J3. There is another simple trick: just twist the battery 90 degrees, as I have shown at the pictures above. It doesn't fit with the terminals facing up, but it fits with the terminals facing to one side. No need for brute force!

Cowon J3 battery replaced. Still rocking! after many years.

Another J3 user dropping in, I bought mine in 2010, and amazingly, the battery life is still great! I am very sad about the lack of real custom firmwares though... Are there any better firmwares out there? All I know is the custom flash GUI, which is cool, but kind of slow :/

My battery lasts ages... ages since changing the battery. Days and days (seriously). My J3 runs a pair of Shure SE535 with hybrid copper / SPC cable and I love it. Even though I own other DAP's one would class higher performance I still need me some of that Cowon sound, and J3 is the one to own...
