Schiit Yggdrasil GS Problem
UPDATE Schiit issued a full refund including the original shipping charge and also did not deduct a restocking fee. I've mentioned before that I do like the sound of the Yggy GS. I would have preferred that they send me a new exchange unit, but this is fine. Now the question is whether I...- Argybargy

Schiit Yggdrasil GS Problem
If I had ordered a B-Stock unit I wouldn't have been surprised by the blemishes and big scratch, but this was a regular A-Stock order and everything should have been brand new except for the analog boards which include the used DAC chips.- Argybargy

Schiit Yggdrasil GS Problem
It does sound good, but they should remove the following from the description of the Yggy GS: 1. Two Analog 1 cards in an otherwise complete new-production Yggdrasil. AND explicitly state that the chassis is also used (and whatever else they reused from the innards).- Argybargy

Schiit Yggdrasil GS Problem
But the thing is, the Yggy GS product page says exactly this: 1. Two Analog 1 cards in an otherwise complete new-production Yggdrasil. So whoever is answering customer service emails is clueless. Not only that but they were so lazy they didn't even fill in the stock reply: ""I am sorry about...- Argybargy

Schiit Yggdrasil GS Problem
Here is what Schiit's website says in the description for the Yggdrasil GS: 1. Two Analog 1 cards in an otherwise complete new-production Yggdrasil. I ordered the regular unit, NOT a B-stock and here is what I received: Scratch on the front panel where it curves to the top panel Nicks on...- Argybargy

Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
After more burn in, the bass has showed up in a big way, from top to bottom. Now has the expected V-shape FR.- Argybargy

Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
Yes, out of the box. With burn-in it has transitioned away from mid-bassy to a more balanced sound. Sounds quite nice, somewhat similar to the old Denon D7000. Anticipating a bit more sub bass with more burn in.- Argybargy

Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
Out of the box it was bass light. After 12 hours of burn in, the bass has filled out some, but the sub-bass still needs more oomph.- Argybargy

Interesting LugBug. What do you think is different about the NADs that makes them quiet with sensitive phones?- Argybargy

Calling All "Vintage" Integrated/Receiver Owners
Lovely. I listen to mine every day. I'd be curious to hear what headphones you find to have the best synergy. And what tubes you settle on. All of the vintage 600ohm phones sound great, with my top pick being the Beyer dt990, the one from the late 1980s(?).- Argybargy

The Stax Thread III
Just google for the 6S4A pinout diagram. After the mod and with the 007mk1, there is less distortion at higher volumes, the bass is tightened up and the soundstage is bigger. I had both the modded 007t and the 717 and after some listening, I sold the 717. Since you will be using the...- Argybargy

The 007t pcb is different from the 007tii pcb. As far as I know there are no detailed instructions. Do a search for the other site, there are some general tips and photos. Basically what I did was to compare the pinouts of the 6s4a and 6cg7 and closely examine the the traces and where they lead...- Argybargy

The Stax Thread III
The 717 + 007mk1 was good but there was no Wow! Factor, but definitely better than the 007T. However, a 6S4A modified 007T sounds better than the 717, a bit more lifelike and better depth to the soundstage..- Argybargy
