Schiit Modi Multibit vs Bifrost Multibit
I see no reason to argue with the person who either didn't read or don't understand the specification. Quoted from http://www.schiit.com/products/wyrd If, as you stated, you are here for a long time, you may've heard that clock signal is a part of data that is being sent to DAC. That should...- ofilippov

Schiit Modi Multibit vs Bifrost Multibit
Ok, I think I wouldn't bother such an experienced man (and other educated people) with such a nonsense. Especially if he wasn't sitting in that room and listening. It's non-constructive talk. I'll just stick with my opinion. And I just suggest people to try by themselves and not listen to some...- ofilippov

It wasn't placebo. 3 people heard it, 1 of them even didn't know what I was doing. Second was highly sceptical. They were asked prior to me talking about observations. Next please. We surely can switch to another thread if you want.- ofilippov

Schiit Modi Multibit vs Bifrost Multibit
Well, back on topic. Modi MB is great DAC and I like it very much after listening to it on several systems. But USB is the weak link of the DAC. You have to consider that making a purchase. As I'm still waiting for 502DAC that I want to use as a streamer with RPI (through coax). So I will share...- ofilippov

Schiit Modi Multibit vs Bifrost Multibit
I agree with your way of thinking. And I guess each one of us should find his/her balance and keep diminishing returns at minimum. Analog cables do matter. I have 3 of them for hd6xx, 2 of which diy (nothing fancy, from pro audio supplies). And I clearly prefer one over others. But I could...- ofilippov

Schiit Modi Multibit vs Bifrost Multibit
Modi 4490 and Multibit both have usb2 version. They don't have enough space for USB 5 implementation. By the way almost all professional cables such as Mogami or Gotham, etc (I mean pro, not audiophile/fool) use oxygen free copper. It's just the widely used technology that became marketing...- ofilippov

Schiit Modi Multibit vs Bifrost Multibit
...Once USB cable is nicely done (power strands of enough thickness, nice isolation, screen, materials, etc.), its influence on the system should be *minimal*. I have Straightwire USB aka PYST from Schiit and I won't spend more money on USB cables. However, I'd be happy to do some experiments...- ofilippov

Maybe you're right. But for starters: 1. Check if there is any kind of error-correction in for USB Audio 2.0 spec 2. Check how the USB signal looks like (see oscilloscope pics on the web at least). Try to search different pictures for different interconnects. 3. Find out what voltage tolerances...- ofilippov

I thought the same. I felt like stating that different USB cable will bring you different result is stupid bull (and I'm working in IT). Until I figured out what USB audio format, asynchronious transfer are and how the signal is being transmitted through "digital" wires. I guess it's a...- ofilippov

I don't really trust Chinese brands unless I have any criteria to judge the product. Only thing I can say about the cable you mentioned is that the price is not quite reassuring. But it will work) The DIY may take a lot more time and money than you initially thought. I'll go that way only if...- ofilippov

I guess, you could find the answer in that topic, but anyway, if you look at the picture (the last one on the 1st page of the mod thread, I hope it's a picture of your headphones ), you can see that main cable has three wires of three different colors. Then commutation goes to the...- ofilippov

Hi, 1. It may be 4-core wire or 3-core in your case. Better use 4-core. Left+, Left Ground, Right+, Right Ground. 2. You may use whatever jack you want. If you want to buy new jack - check Amphenol or Neutrik, preferably golden plated. 3. I advice you against buing cables on Ali. Paracord - yes...- ofilippov

Just braided my first glamour pinkish cable for HD6XX that didn't come yet) https://imgur.com/a/uGLsn Wasted: 1) 2 meters of 0.19mm2 (<24AWG) Gotham cable. Yep, maybe you're right. Thank you for reminding me. 1) I've got the material you was telling me about. Didn't come across MB dac that was powered on for a while yet. 2) As I stated above, I was listening to cold Modi MB, out of the box. Maybe that's the reason I didn't notice much difference...- ofilippov
