Matrix Audio Element Series Thread
This thread is not getting much traffic anymore ... this unit is not exactly new and to me, its just rock solid, when it works as intended, handles media well, work seemlessly with Roon, probably not much to write about, especially when there is a new model. I love mine, perhaps the new one is...- raykkho

New denafrips DDC (Iris and Gaia)
I can still use full MQA decode if wanted on the X, just have to forgo the GAIA and switch input source from i2s to network, which also routes signal through the X's XMOS processor. Hope you find what you want, enjoy the music :)- raykkho

New denafrips DDC (Iris and Gaia)
Thanks for the kind word. The X was my top choice for the price range I could afford and the requirements I had (streamer/DAC/headphone amp all-in-one), and I am more than happy with my purchase. Recently brought it to a show room and compared it to a twice as expensive TOTL r2r DAC, I...- raykkho

Cannot agree more, if our audio habit is 1+1=2, then there will not be any need for forums and discussions. Get what you make you happy :L3000:- raykkho

I really like my Empy sound signature. My itchy butt syndrome (IBS) that I have (you have that too?) reminds me that I NEED another pair of more "affordable" cans. You guys think the Gold Planar GL2000 Double Magnet version is a good candidate? I drive them balanced with solid state amp...- raykkho

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
I have the M11Pro (Fiio right?) using UAPP and the Fiio app. Empy and M11Pro go quite well together, using low gain and 4.4 balanced out I almost max out the volume (around 90, I don't listen loud), so I imagine some of you might need to go into high gain. Not the tightest of bass but to me...- raykkho

I completely agree. When I demoed between the two using exact same equipment, I could barely listen to the 800 for more than a few minutes, but then again this is purely personal preferences and honestly no right or wrong if you ask me.- raykkho

Agree Topping D90 + A90 + rpi are an excellent and lower cost alternative when compared to the element X, the combo however comes in more boxes and interconnecting cables. For some, like myself, I prefer an all-in-one solution, not necessarily better, just personal preferences.- raykkho

In my situation, the Wi-Fi was more than enough, I guess the main complaint was the Wi-Fi card is not AC which the original spec mentioned, but N instead, but still plenty of speed for all the hires files I have. As for the switching between output, it's not automatic but easy as pie to switch.- raykkho

https://www.matrix-digi.com/en/products/489.html Their Mini-i 3 Pro is also excellent choice, but beware you must have Roon to work with this one, you cannot just stream from NAS direct, I don't know why they did this.- raykkho

For your info., I am using ethernet now, before that I was using Wifi. About 3 meters from my N router, also flawless reception, almost instantaneous file loading, even big DSD file, the lag is so minimal I don't have any problem with it. Again this is my personal experience, cannot speak for...- raykkho

I use my element X exclusively with Roon, my personal experience is that it works flawlessly with Roon. I have heard issues with some users using the X with the MA app, stream from NAS or SD card, etc., I cannot comment since I do not use my X that way.- raykkho

Hi all, I just had a custom balanced headphone cable adapter for my Mytek made using the schematic below, but connecting to my headphone I don't know why the signal turns into mono. Hi everyone, I'm using my Emphyrean with stock xlr cable driven by balanced amp, happy with them but not quite long enough, is there a recommended maximum xlr cable length? Adding 2M on top of the will be enough for me. Please advise. Thanks.- raykkho
