Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones
I updated the link in this post with new Equalizer APO settings. I compared the Innerfidelity and Reference Audio Analyzer measurements and RTINGS to my ear sounds better. RTINGS's methodology is definitely more robust and accurate, even if they've improved their measurement procedure since the...- Chimichanga

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones
I always figured only the speaker-side had glue on it; eventually I noticed the pad-side also had glue. It may have just been the pad-side glue that made the mess. Like you I completely tore out the little surround padding from the ear-pads when I noticed the speaker-side felt tape thing hadn't...- Chimichanga

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones
I've flip-flopped between liking and disliking what the P7's sound like when properly equalized. The RTINGS measurements stored by AutoEQ aren't perfect, but I tweaked them a little because the treble range sounded brittle and piercing at times. Now they sound very different and I think I like...- Chimichanga

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones
It took me longer than I liked, but I got most of the adhesive off with rubbing alcohol, though there's probably something stronger you could use, like WD-40 (careful with the leather). I removed the metal plate and considered taking a picture, but there's not much to see. There's a plastic...- Chimichanga

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones
@Roderick , I think they're otherwise well built headphones. Steel and leather, and if there's any plastic it's in the interior cavity of the drivers. Why they would corrupt good construction with tacked on tape is beyond me. I think I one Amazon reviewer of the wireless version reported the...- Chimichanga

...is that there is a metal plate behind the adhesive tape. The bad news is that removing the glue residue is nightmarish, but the adhesive tape came clean off with a few tugs. *Given the way that this is put together, it's not out of the question that the ear pad construction itself is leaking...- Chimichanga

Yeah, that's glue alright. Try to contact B&W and explain your problem. Someone contacted me via PM asking me what they should say to get their 'phones exchanged. This was mentioned a few pages back---even if you're out of warranty---make the case that the defect has been present since you...- Chimichanga

Bowers&Wilkins new flagship the P9!
Going off-topic here, I'm sure there are several lengthy threads about this, etc, I think you were right the first time around. Like any other thing (wine tasting, judging televisions, and headphones of course), taste is cultivated on top of shaky foundations that can be undermined with ease...- Chimichanga

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones
Man, that's too bad. I'm sure like everyone that's posted here, your P7 was probably seeping glue well inside its warranty period, so they should really just exchange it because it's such a star-sized defect from the assembly/manufacturing. I'm glad I got mine replaced, but when I...- Chimichanga

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones
Wow!! I just got back my P7's from B&W after I sent it in because of the glue defect (keeping in mind, I was already out of warranty), and my jaw is kind of dragging the floor at what they've sent me back They've sent me a completely refurbished/new P7 with brand-spanking-new ear pads, and...- Chimichanga

My warranty also expired some months ago, but they still offered me a replacement. I did however contact B&W P7 over a year ago about this very problem, I just didn't insist on an exchange because I had trouble believing glue was actually seeping through the felt pad (my ear pads are...- Chimichanga

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones
So uh, over 2 years after I bought these, having grown sick of how they had aged, I ended up realizing that the sticky stuff inside the headphones was glue. Which is bizarre, to think this kind of malfunction would happen in this expensive a device, but there you go: If your P7 turns sticky, get...- Chimichanga

Quote: The inside of the earpads are a little rough looking, but if I replaced them with new ones, eventually they would detriorate quickly as well. The earpads don´t look too bad, the problem lies with the material sorrounding the headphone drivers. (I posted a stock image of the...- Chimichanga

I´ve had these forever now, and I have used them extensively. Has the interior felt plate turned gross and icky for anyone? Using them for hours on end (not to mention during summer) has turned the interior into a sticky fly trap. I can´t for the life of me figure out what to do. I...- Chimichanga

Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around
...the bass) weren't where I wanted them to be. The soundstage is indeed bigger on the P7, I noticed this after watching the same movie on the both of them. *Oh, and it's been mentioned before, but the NAD's do place some pressure on your noggin'. It would get quite uncomfortable after a while.- Chimichanga

PSB M4U1 - Thoughts?
The PSB's sport the same "Roomfeel" quality. They're very similiar to the NAD Viso's, a little more bass from what I've read around. That said, I preferred the P7's for more than one reason (bass, treble, musical detail, build quality).- Chimichanga

The bass is great, right? That should be mentioned more! It's super tasteful, and I can see any bass lover getting used to it as long as they're kept away from EQs. Watching movies on this is a delight as well!- Chimichanga

B&W P7 vs NAD VISO HP50
They're great across genres, but when it comes to rap/electronic music (don't know if you listen to these!) they're a bit lacking, I think. The P7's were perfect for me because the bass sounded similar to what I set my equalizer to on the NAD's.- Chimichanga

B&W P7 vs NAD VISO HP50
I really think it should be emphasized that unless you plan on using an equalizer (don't know about movie watching), the NAD's don't have much bass presence (I like to feel some oomph). And despite not being as lively and exciting as the P7, they also don't accentuate musical flourishes like...- Chimichanga

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones
It's a not-so-inconspicuous magnetic purse. It fits the aesthetic--but if you were to drop it with the headphones in, it would survive simply because it's built well. The purse is lovely however. Though I don't think it's real leather, that would've been touted on the manufacturer website, it...- Chimichanga

NAD Viso HP50 Headphones - Initial Impressions
Your 20 dollar headphones? Try spending a week with the Viso's, you'll be flaying yourself over that statement. Over-rationalizing perceptions can backfire. Anyway, they were much better than my 598's. They are excellent, but I returned them for B&W P7's--these definitely have a wow factor...- Chimichanga

NAD VISO HP50 not for me, what else?
If you're looking for some good bass (the NAD's are indeed too mellow for some) try the P7's. They are more expensive, however.- Chimichanga

Sennheiser Momentum vs Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) P7
Good Lord, a lot of baloney gets thrown around in here. What the heck would burn-in even look like in the P7? They're not even built like most headphones! If you have no idea on what's going on internally with the hardware, physically, why not settle for that thing that forgets to turn off the...- Chimichanga

So, about the KEF's—why is it that they're the only 'on-ear' headphones that get compared to over-the-ear headphones? Are they that good? No one seems to mention anything about losses when listening to the on-ear design.- Chimichanga
