Audioengine A5 buzzing
Quote: Isn't the clean power filter by Monster (HT700) is the same as a line conditioner? It didn't work. Quote: I'm OK with a little white noise, but this is a buzz/hum that be clearly heard at listening distance- MarkKLC

Audioengine A5 buzzing
It's both a hum and a hiss. The hum is the same sort of hum you hear at power stations, or the hum coming from the subwoofer/amplifier of computer speakers (except much louder). The tweeter itself makes a significant hiss when I put my ear up to it. I'm not picky, and understand...- MarkKLC

Audioengine A5 buzzing
So I just got a pair of Audioengine A5's... they sound superb, but I hear a buzzing/humming (like an electrical hum) coming from both speakers. It's OK when I first turn it on, but if I play something on the iPod and pause the music, the hum starts. It is really noticeable even several feet...- MarkKLC

Walkman Cellphones vs Walkman Players
I have the w810i, and the main problem is a really loud hiss in the background (I hope they've fixed this for newer models by now). But aside from that, I still think a good mp3 player sounds a lot better in terms of the range and soundstage, and all the other things.- MarkKLC

How many of you started off with Sony phones before you knew about Head-Fi?

Black ER6I vs White ER6i
I have the white, but black ones may be better for people with wet earwax... the black triflanges aren't as obvious when you pull them out in public after deep insertion...- MarkKLC

WOW I CANT BELIEVE IM STUPID!
Who knows, you may have been saving some money! Looking at their website, their prices seem a lot higher than US online places. We non-Americans always get pillaged if we buy locally- MarkKLC

24 Season 6 finale - your thoughts
I thought the finale was superb. I'm tired of the shock and awe approach they've taken with all the other finales. BTW, for the record, Jack did not kill himself: http://youtube.com/watch?v=OttiDqyc72U- MarkKLC

REALLY cheap speaker stands... suggestions?
I just got the Xbox Spherex speakers (they're small+light) and need something to put them on, preferably for <$20 total. Anyone have any ideas? Our house is long overdue for a renovation anyways, so I don't care if it's ugly, just as long as it works! I considered cinder blocks, but they...- MarkKLC

Which inserts you prefer for your IEMs
I find the orange foams tend to give the music a little more bass, but maybe it's just because it fits better for me. I have wet ears, so when I push the triflanges too deep into my ears, they pull out a bunch of earwax, which is disgusting to deal with when in public- MarkKLC

Help! Gotta do a class presentation on headphones!
Yeah... but I want to include it because it will actually help my presentation. It's the students who are marking me anyways, and a portion of the criteria is how interactive/effective it is, so I'm thinking it might help a lot. EDIT: Binaural's a great idea, do you have any suggestions on...- MarkKLC

Help! Gotta do a class presentation on headphones!
Regarding passing around the SR60's... it's definitely going to make whoever listening not listen to me speak at the moment, but do you think I should pass it around FIRST or at the end? (I'm thinking neither, because I want them to listen to my opening hook, yet also the conclusion) BTW, I'm...- MarkKLC

Help! Gotta do a class presentation on headphones!
...Are you sure you want to do it on headphones? No offense, but 10 minutes on it might be slightly blunt.. Especially to the general public that *usually* doesn't care about it But if you've made your decision and won't change it, bring your SR60 and PA2V2 with you and spread it around...- MarkKLC

Haha this might be a dream come true for many headfiers... For one of my uni classes I have to do a 10min presentation on any topic (they suggest doing a hobby), so I picked headphones! How to connect AV710 and PA2V2
I should be receiving my PA2V2 in a few days, and was wondering which jack of the AV710 I should be connecting to. Right now, I'm using the black Wolfson DAC jack connected to my SR60's unamped. With the PA2V2, should I just connect to the green jack? Also, I was wondering whether a better...- MarkKLC

Doctors study warns: 80% of volume=LOUD!
If anything, I think this "study" is reassuring (if valid, but I have doubts). I assume they used iBuds going out of the iPod, since that's what everyone uses. 80% with that combo is deafening! But i guess this study is aimed at teens who actually DO listen at those levels. I don't think...- MarkKLC

Help!!!! I bought a pair of e2c's last week, used the flex sleeves and really good and comfortable fit, but the earphones as a whole sounded terrible.
