Watts Up...?
If you have the finances to get the tt2 and the m scaler at the same time, I recommend getting a second-hand Dave instead. It will ultimately form the core of a much better system than the tt2. You will still be able to get an m scaler new or second-hand later. -

The nice thing about upgrades is that even though a particular upgrade might not be exactly night and day in itself, the cumulative effect of several upgrades could well be.- SteveHulk

My low-tech solution was to put a small soft lens-cleaning cloth over the light at night. Nowadays I just don't bother as I am used to the light anyway.- SteveHulk

By all means run the filter software in real time on your pc or mac. They're is no reason not to do that. I think I would say that that doesn't work for people like me who use a purpose-built music file server, such as Innuous Zen. Those devices cannot run filter software as part of their...- SteveHulk

Raal Ribbon Headphones - SRH1A
I'm not sure why the people who make this sort of filter don't also sell it as a standalone product through which a user can process a whole library of music files and then play those files back using whatever digital system they choose. I think their potential client base would be significantly...- SteveHulk

I seem to remember that it was also an issue of cable length. For short runs RCA is the way to go, for longer runs XLR wins out. I guess it is an issue of longer runs being more liable to ambient electrical noise pickup, which the balanced topology of XLR is designed to suppress.- SteveHulk

Being a listener and being a tweaker are not mutually exclusive. It is not a zero-sum game. I love tweaking - if you can call building an entire 300B SET amp a tweak - and I have learned so much. It's been great fun! The innards of the various boxes in audio are much less of a mystery to me...- SteveHulk

A critical path for rf noise to travel between the mscaler and the tt2 is via the audio ground connection in the bnc cables connecting the two. So, unfortunately, no. It is necessary additionally either to treat the bnc cables with ferrites which hugely increase the high-frequency impedance of...- SteveHulk

The consensus here seems to be that a battery for the mscaler is both a superior and cost-effective solution. My advice is to do that first.- SteveHulk

The psvane CV181T are an extremely tight fit, I know as I used to use them. Anything bigger will most probably not fit at all in the original sockets. You can get socket adapters made which could move the driver tubes forward a bit which would give them more space. @Deyan could probably give...- SteveHulk

Whether a phone can listen to a WiFi hotspot and the datastream from your phone service provider simultaneously depends on the hardware and OS of the phone. For instance, reasonably recent higher end Samsung Galaxy phones can do this but lower end and older Samsungs cannot. Given that you are...- SteveHulk
