Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
Be very cautious with that kind of post, because it's far from being common sense. Most people I know who own/owned/tested the LCD2(and HE-500 for that matter) found it very heavy and unconfortable, and many sold it for this very reason. Comfort tolerance varies from person to person. Because a...- Okamoto

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
It isn't amp or source, because I don't hear it with my other headphones. I assembled everything properly. Maybe a strand of hair fell into the driver when I opened it. I'll check it again today. This noise occurs more precisely between 500hz and 520hz.- Okamoto

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Hey guys, does anyone know if the HE-500 have some resonance arround 500hz? I opened my HE-500 today to clean the drivers, see if there was any dust particle or hair on the diaphragm. After I finished, I went to sinegen to run some tests, see if anything has changed, and I noticed a really...- Okamoto

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
T1 has a lot more treble than HE-500s and it's much more "spiky". The measurements done by Marvey(purrin) show it better: HE-500(velours) T1- Okamoto

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Actually, according to measurements, the Abyss has a lot of dips and peaks on the mid-treble/low treble region: not very smooth. But the subjective impressions is that it is not that grainy or harsh in the treble and does have a very open sounding(atleast the ones I've read). Very interesting...- Okamoto

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
I turned it off to perform the test. You're probably right. I doubt the wind from my ventilator has anything to do with this. I was just trying to figure out the cause and tossed the first thing that came to mind. If it happens not to be earwax, I probably damaged it listening to music...- Okamoto

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Not yet. I'll try it out and see if it works. By the way, I'm wondering, could wind noise from a ventilator cause hearing loss? I have a ventilator here in my room that's always on to my right and stays pointed to my head. Maybe that's what is impacting my hearing?- Okamoto

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
I've been playing with test tones on sinegen and I found out that the problem is my ears. I have "hearing imbalance" issues. I'd rather it was my equipment Does anyone know how to fix it?- Okamoto

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Well, performed some tests today again with mono and stereo settings. Seems it was just a false impression. If there are differences, they're subtle enough that I need to do critical listening tests to detect them.- Okamoto

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Guys, have you ever experienced channel balance issues with the HE-500? I was doing that Philips Golden Ears test other day and on the soundstage test (right/left balance) I noticed that right 2 and left 2 weren't quite equal in terms of volume and timbre. Right 2 was a bit quieter than left...- Okamoto

Philips Golden Ears challenge
Seems it's not the amp either. Switched to Mjolnir and the "issue" persists. Since it happens with my other phones too, could it be it's just the recording? Can anyone confirm this to me? Right side just sounds lower quality to me, besides being quieter.- Okamoto

Philips Golden Ears challenge
I tried switching the sides and it followed the driver. However, I tried with my other headphones and it seems the issue persists. Maybe it's my amp and/or DAC?- Okamoto

Philips Golden Ears challenge
Guys, in the spaciousness test on bronze ears(left/right balance test), did you notice any difference between right 2 and left 2 in terms of volume and tonal balance? I'm afraid I'm experiencing channel imbalance with my HE-500.- Okamoto

Audio player, equalizer, resampling measurements
In terms of accuracy. Based on xnor's measurements, it seems I wouldn't need anything besides Electri-Q, but maybe I'm wrong. Thanks for the link, by the way. Very interesting site.- Okamoto

Audio player, equalizer, resampling measurements
So Electi-Q in digital mode is the best equalizer so far? Or are there better equalizers out there? (for use with f2k, preferably) edit. Just noticed xnor was banned. That's really a shame. He's was great user, very knowledgeable when it comes to audio science/engineering and was always...- Okamoto

Thanks for sharing your experiences and thoughts. Guess I'll have to try the mojo with a balanced DAC at some point. Or atleast a better SE one.- Okamoto
