No really... You need special pads for the rack feet too! I set mine in rice to increase damping and minimize vibrational noise- jkpenrose

The Qudelix-5K thread
I think the early design specs indicated an AK, but they went with: Dual ES9218P SABRE HiFi® DAC for the actual implementation. My 5K arrived this week and I anticipate doing some comparisons with the es100 in the next week or so... With me Meze 99 and soon to arrive ZMF VO 😁- jkpenrose

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I was at a Denver Nuggets game about 20 years ago and during halftime they had a band setup in the stands about 50 feet away. My brother in law and I thought at first it was a fake tribute band, but turned out it was actually KISS - wasn't even announced or promoted at the time!- jkpenrose

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I just picked up an Allo USBridge to feed a BF2 as I wanted to use Unison instead of AES. Total cost was just over $300 with upgraded power supply. They designed a dedicated board to minimize the noise and overcome the potential limitations of the shared USB bus on the Pi3... As I understand...- jkpenrose

Though i gotta tell ya', most of the people I know think even $800 for an Amp isn't quite sane either! Fortunately, sane was never at the top of my list!- jkpenrose

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Yeah... I didn't think I would particularly like the 'pick my music for me' process, but turns out to be one of my favorite parts of streaming and I've discovered several new artists I was unfamiliar with. I believe qobuz can import play lists, but I haven't checked that out enough to see if...- jkpenrose

I am currently trialing qobuz, but I do miss the auto discovery of you tube music. Any suggestions from other qobuz users? Also trying Amazon hd, but many problems with the player and the lack of bit perfect is frustrating and seems to me the point of HD (or what Amazon calls hd :)- jkpenrose

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)
Thanks for the feedback. After I get everything setup and dialed in, that might be an interesting comparison... With either Pi2aes or adding a card to the USBridge From what I've read, I'm thinking clean USB into Unison should sound pretty darn good! I'll be running USBridge - > BF 2 - > ZMF...- jkpenrose

👍 I went with allo USBridge - so figure that paired with Unison should give similar results to pi2AES.- jkpenrose

I've heard some people say USB, even Unison, sounds flatter and less dynamic than spidf. Any thoughts on that?- jkpenrose

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
For sure... I had the pleasure of speaking with Richard when I first got into audio back in the early 90's and worked my way up the speaker line. He was always very intersted in time-coherence and phase - and his speakers were often described as having a laid back sound - but are very natural...- jkpenrose
