It is my understanding that the PM-2 have been discontinued, unfortunately - along with the HA-1 DAC/Amp.- Bombarde

I agree - I'm very disappointed that they discontinued this, but very glad the I bought one last August. To my ears, it and the PM-1 are a match made in heaven. There's a post earlier in this thread with a response from Oppo to an inquiry on...- Bombarde

While you make a good point, I just have to say the battery on these is amazing. I use them every day... some days for quite awhile, and the battery level rarely drops perceptibly. They either have a monster battery, or they just sip power. Another thing to love.- Bombarde

I'm pretty sure the device it automatically pairs with on power up is the very first device it ever paired with the first time you paired it. If you want to change that device, you need to clear its memory of paired devices and re-pair to the device you want to be primary.- Bombarde

The fact that a pair of phones has low impedance and can reach a high volume level from a low power device does not mean that it can deliver its best performance from that low power source. A better, more powerful amp will often deliver cleaner, better controlled sound at normal listening...- Bombarde

I tried it today. It seemed to sound a little "thin". It also seemed a little wonky trying to go back and forth... and at times added a little static right after I changed settings. I think that theoretically, reducing all frequencies would be the same as lowering the volume... but I suspect...- Bombarde

The original P7 wired was a different headphone. Several folks who have heard both (I haven't) have liked the sound signature of the newer wireless version better. As for comparing the sound of the wireless model with and without cable, I can say from my own experience that it does sound better...- Bombarde

Hah! love your "budget dust" comment :-) So, perhaps you saw this new post by whitiger over in the HA-1 thread - it directly addresses your question: http://www.head-fi.org/t/717834/oppo-ha-1-impressions-thread/4710#post_13020662 :basshead:- Bombarde

Oppo PM-1 Planar Magnetic Headphone Impressions Thread
Personally, I can't speak to the difference between the two cables, as I bought the balanced cable with the phones, and started using it almost immediately. So I don't have a basis to compare the two. Others here can probably better describe the difference from their own experience, but...- Bombarde

Interesting idea...I might try it...though I wonder if that might not have a negative impact on SQ with the extra DSP. I tend to avoid EQ. I did switch off Normalization, but can't say I noticed a difference. I do think it's likely more a Spotify issue, as I don't notice the issue with my...- Bombarde

Ah, but is it not more convenient to have the option to listen either wired or wireless? To perhaps plug in the P7s if you want the improved SQ, or if maybe they need charging? More options = more convenience, IMHO. ;)- Bombarde

I agree that they aren't bothered by SQ. But I don't believe they are bothered any longer with convenience, either. Otherwise they wouldn't be removing ports from all their new devices.- Bombarde

iPhone 7 Will Revolutionize Portable Audio for the First Time in a Decade
My iPhone SE contains both the sound and the storage, and works with lightning DACs and conventional headphones. And it lacks the Nuisance Factor of the iPhone 7 - which is the only "revolutionary" thing I see in this new direction Apple has taken. I'm with ORT. (And don't get me started on...- Bombarde

Sitting here listening to some lossless tracks from the last 4 Bond movie soundtracks by David Arnold and Thomas Newman... and just had to pop in and say how much I love the PM-1/HA-1 balanced combo! They just absolutely hit the sweet spot for me. They are so smooth and musical, and yet keep...- Bombarde

The velour are my favorite, followed by the original leathers. I'm probably in the minority in feeling the treble on the alternative leather got a bit harsh on some tracks. The PM1s with velour running balanced out of the HA-1 have an uncanny ability to make most anything sound great. Even some...- Bombarde

Re: the P7's bass, on some tracks I've felt it to be a bit too much — but then on other tracks they just blow me away with how amazing everything sounds. For that, and their stellar Bluetooth performance, they're keepers. I only have one weird minor issue — sometime I wish I could turn them...- Bombarde

I've been enjoying mine for a few days now. Getting used to the somewhat darker signature than some of my other phones. Bluetooth connection is rock solid - much more so than my QC35 and QC30, both of which can be prone to dropouts with my iPhone, and can break up badly if I leave the phone in...- Bombarde
