Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
...I know. Did it sound good, Schiit yeah. Made a few tweaks to the settings to improve the sound field and the bottom end, and colour me impressed. * Before anyone asks, no it's not a true atoms setup, but regardless it's damn good for a living room and comes with little complexity. Read the...- Timster

Apparently most people can't stand being the ultimately treated room - an anechoic chamber - for very long. Too quiet, you can hear your blood circulating. Freaks people out, so I've heard.- Timster

?? for the group. I pretty sure that sending an email to info@schiit.com usually generates an auto-reply so you know the email got into the system and in a queue for a response. Did I remember that correctly? If so, maybe something's broken as I've sent the same email twice in the last 3 days...- Timster

The food in Italy is just awesome, and Bologna in particular is even better. Bettered only (in our experience) by Napoli. ... but a different better, not just a better better... if that makes sense? Coffee and Gelato is coming from another world in Italy. And the tomatoes ... OMG Soooo much...- Timster

Hmmm, they would need to be really long, slow cooked to be edible though.... and then cardboard tasting springs to mind. Or dried leather & Sweat Socks, literally :astonished: Apologies to @bcowen ... cardboard would be way better than this. *Hush Puppies in Oz are shoes ...- Timster

Yes please!! I would see this as a downstream device, following the pre-amp and adding capability to the system, rather than as a potential desktop/gaming dac/pre-amp, TV add on etc, as per the Syn in it's current incarnation. For me it would be same size as Freya/Kara (and Lokius Max for that...- Timster

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
The XMC-1 was great, don't get me wrong on that! I just wanted a different direction, and squeezing down the space taken up with everything was a driver. I have balanced out to the main amps through the Lokius. I will be in the queue if ever an Ultimate Syn is released. Freya sized ideally...- Timster

For those who are concerned with the lack of a sub level control on the Syn, I use one of these in the line from the Syn to the sub. Works beautifully. I run the sub a bit hot, and this usually at 12 o'clock. Very easy to tweak up or down...- Timster

Would you need a sub? Maybe. What's the bottom end on the CVs? A dedicated sub may go a lot lower, but depending on your use case, perhaps not a need.- Timster

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
For me, Syn is awesome. For background it replaced an XMC-1 (after it replaced a number of AVRs over the years). I wanted a a few outcomes: - Centered dialogue - "Ambient" surround, bring the soundstage forward and past the seating position - Subwoofer output - significant size savings as...- Timster
