    .....and, I'm up for air!

...machine calls it "true bi-wiring" in some publications and "balanced" in others. What they mean by that is that the 701s use separate grounds for each motor assembly rather than a common ground (although the ¼" jack does feature a common ground, of course). That's probably one reason I was...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

...reality, I've always felt most of the wired Noble IEM are overpriced too for what they are. But the Aviot do seem like a set breaking some ground in the TWS space. If the Aviot do the trick, the MTW4 will be on sale and maybe next year something interesting enough will come out. But yes...

    JM Audio Editions XTC Headphones

When you say the Aune S9C Pro serves bright detailed headphones well, what do you mean by that? I am just curious. I currently am pairing the XTC 2 Open with it and have been enjoying it quite a bit. I have been looking at potentially getting a set of planar headphones but still looking into...

Douk Audio U2 Pro DDC - Poorman DDC for an affordable & clean digital signal

Nah, it helps a cable ground potential convert to EMI. It makes it difficult to deal with later. Rule #1. Deal with a source noise at a source before it converts to EMI. Rule #2. Deal with EMI on the receiver side.

...technicalities, Yep. And the Singolo has the combined effect of the two going on in unison. What makes the music as such become lifted off the ground into the midrange, forgetting the grounding taking place in the XUAN NV at all. Nope, we are flying slightly higher off the ground. Cruising...

...inaudible at "medium", and non-existent at "low". At the "low" impedance level, which is more suitable for my Empyrean 2 (32 ohms), the background is about 99% quiet as the radio station's conversations are extremely quiet, infrequent, and on the right channel. I can deal with this since I...

    T+A Solitaire T Wireless Headphone

Unless you are using ancient or highly esoteric equipment, causing a short upon insertion of an HP is irrelevant today. That being said, I like the pentaconn because the jack feels more robust than the 3.5mm. But, it's not as large as the 6.35mm. It's also easier to convert to 4 pin XLR.

Hello, I don't detect any background noise while listening to music, only when I have my phone nearby. I try to keep it away when listening Yesterday I tested with the headphones connected but without music. Turning the volume up to 12 o'clock or more I can hear a soft hum, mainly at high...

    T+A Solitaire T Wireless Headphone

Modern amplifiers for several years, including some that are portable, are easily capable of driving vast majority of headphones. Like happening with several others aspects of audio, the debate of balanced vs unbalanced is very more often a case of snake oil.

    T+A Solitaire T Wireless Headphone

The key parts there are slew rate and lack of shared ground. Basically a balanced amp can be twice as fast as a single ended amp when both use the same transistors. On less efficient headphones the voltage swing needs to be higher so balanced can offer benefits there. If you have a single...

...slew rate (how quickly the amp responds to input signals), lower noise, and reduced crosstalk due to the elimination of the shared audio ground between the left and right channels. But you’re highly unlikely to notice much improvement in listening. Actually, the only real tangible benefit...

Yup, we'll bite that bullet, in order to add the inline mic, the 3.5 is pretty dumb as we have to ground the mic... Please use the 4.4 balanced output.

I’m happy to have "recommended" it to you, especially considering that you like it so much! I really think it’s an amazing cable, particularly given its price. TRN is extremely fast on that front. Yesterday, they dispatched my Medusa in a matter of minutes after I ordered it. Thank you for...

...experience. In other words, there is no right or wrong, try yourself what suits you best. Jump around with settings or find your "lazy" middle ground and leave it as it is. Me for example, with my equipment and preferences, I mostly use fast roll off linear phase, the standard, basic FIR...

...to any perceived hum? As described before, on my ZMFs (VC + BC), sadly, I'm far from a "black" noise floor, and instead get a discernable "ground hum" which seems to be treatable with the right set of cables (AC and HP cables). Silver makes it worse, copper makes it less. Interconnects (DAC...

    DIY Ground Box Thread

@rickmcinnis Here are the different solderless connectors I recommend to use for Ground cable and ground box applications. All can be purchased very inexpensively from Aliexpress and perform well beyond their price points. For ground box use case, IMHO sound better than the Furutech...

    Headphone Amp Sennheiser HD6xx

...and that is usually that the design is in fact balanced in that it uses a positive and a negative per channel not just positives and a common ground. It is louder because there are twice as many amplifiers, two per channel not just one. The whole balanced thing is all but meaningless in IEM...

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

Not to derail but I’m currently in San Diego and my car journey started with a 1971 VW Bug. Then had several Buses including a rare kombi that was hard top but with bed and table, VW Fastback and finally The VW Thing. And what was nice with the VW is you could tinker with it and mod it. So...
