@Luckbad and @JMCIII Cheers for the clarification. There's indeed something buggy about this comments box as well. I have to wait a few minutes after clicking in this box before I can start entering any comments. Maybe something for the mods to look at.- ashutoshp

@JMCIII Great review. This is by no means a criticism but after reading your glowing assessment, I was somewhat surprised to find that you gave the headphones a lower rating for "Audio Quality" and "Value"? I'm just curious. Thanks.- ashutoshp

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)
Good question. Delta Sigma DACs I believe. Maybe a pro audio gent/gal can back me up or correct me. I am pretty sure there are just a handful of stand-alone DACs south of $1000 because the money/demand is of components upstream, i.e., the ADCs rather than the DACs. Makes sense TBH. I always...- ashutoshp

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
Cheers for this. I have been curious about what would be a good complement to the 400i but could you say in what sense the HD650 represents an upgrade? The reason I ask is because I have only once heard the HD650s for a few minutes through a Woo Audio tube amp. IIRC, I found it to have a...- ashutoshp

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
@swspiers +1 to his POV as I have a similar experience, albeit with the iPad Air. which says a lot about the iPad. But thinking out aloud, I'm wondering if this means that you need a really good amp like the Lyr and co. to take the 400i to the 'next' level.- ashutoshp

Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC
FWIW, I use the DC-1 with my Fidelio L1s and I am usually listening at the -20 to -40 setting on the DC-1 with absolutely no hissing whatsoever. The X2s should be even easier because according to Innerfidelity, at 35 Ohms, you need ~0.089 VRMS to reach 90 dB SPL on the X2, compared to the L1s...- ashutoshp

Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC
True I agree and second your mythbuster request. I too dont understand how it changes sound except for the fact that they provide more voltage swing and lower (audible?) distortion. Just thought I'd add a little more. IIRC, most (good) USB audio recording interfaces these...- ashutoshp

Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC
Makes sense. I'm in PA so things are slightly colder. Maybe Emo should start adding the space heater/hand warmer on its DC-1 features list.- ashutoshp

Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC
@Sal1950 I had the same issue originally. In fact, I remember a mild panic when i could smell plastic burning when I bought it initially. IIRC, after reading some of Keith's posts over on the Emotiva forum, I realized that in fact, this is normal behaviour and one should be worried if it does...- ashutoshp

Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC
+1 to that. I have been reading Keith's posts over in the DAC side of things as well and on Emotiva's own forum. Good stuff. Thank you. I hope you keep it up Keith. Patience is a virtue with these endeavours which is NEVER easy to come by, leave alone sustain. I know I need clarity to see...- ashutoshp

Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC
This is GOLD Keith. I am a grown man but I am not afraid to say this- I love Emotiva! I get gooey eyed when I see the DC-1 on my media center every morning and the proudest day of my audiohead life was when my 6-year old said this- "daddy, can I listen to some Lego Chima music on the DC-1 DAC"...- ashutoshp

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.
Hello folks. FYI, the E5 is on Massdrop for USD 149.99 (lowest join price). My dilemma- I'm torn between a straight up headphone amp like the Fiio E12 and a USB/DAC amp like the E5 to use with my phone on the go. I have an LG G3 which according to gsmarena has very good audio output already via...- ashutoshp
