Holo Audio May DAC Speculation
Why not consider PGGB, which can remaster files offline to DSD1024, and sounds incredible? So remaster on that PC, then use them in your server near to the May. https://www.remastero.com/guide-plus.html#QSDSD PS, I used to own the May, and still have my Dave. Used it with DSD upsampling out of...- jelt2359

Chord Electronics - Blu Mk. 2 - The Official Thread
Yes, my server is on all the time. Most of the time I remember to pause it, but I don't exactly remember if that keeps the Blu2 going (since my Roon is still on). Anyway I found it burning up with a near-fever once or twice and decided, "no mas".- jelt2359

I used to do this but it gets REALLY hot as it continues to work (unlike Dave), so now I prefer to just turn on and off.- jelt2359

Another one to consider: https://global.rakuten.com/en/store/chuya-online/item/91828/?l-id=rgm_item_en_rvp_widget Oyaide makes good stuff generally and this isn't too pricy.- jelt2359

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones
Thanks. I use my code-x with all my power amps and they do pretty great so I was surprised that a J2 would be sold and the Crimson kept, that's all. But I do see how the Crimson could be more versatile.- jelt2359

What are the specs on that amp? I'm loving my HE6 with Apex Teton as a preamp and the Pass Labs XA25 as a power amp. You probably don't have to spend that much to get magical sound, but really- that shows you how much power these babies need.- jelt2359

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Expense is one thing, another is convenience. Lots of stuff available on streaming and digital downloads these days. I’m also not a fan of physically changin media. Besides, who says that good analog setups are cheap?- jelt2359

What amp are you using with the 009? For me the 009 and the 800 do certain things my Phi doesn't.- jelt2359

Thanks for the impressions! I lost my portable dac/amp so pumped up the cash for a Hugo2. Look forward to getting back into the game. This time I’ll use it with the Blu2 at home.- jelt2359

Thanks guys. Hope to have the chance to try the EE one day. Been following them since day one with their kickstarter under a different name, so I'm certainly partial to Jack's stuff :)- jelt2359

It’s New Year’s Eve, an important decision surely but I’ve decided that I will ring in 2018 with my Glenn OTL amp playing my favourite tunes at midnight in a couple of hours. Hopefully next year I’ll do the same thing but with the GEL3N. Hope everyone has a great new year ahead!- jelt2359

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)
If you’re going down this route I’d rather get a HE6 4 screw to complement your hd800. The hd650 is inferior to the hd800. Better tone, yes, but still inferior in terms of soundstage and detail. It also sounds veiled in comparison. The HD800 is outstanding, but the HE6 brings a visceral...- jelt2359

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)
Having 'been there, done that' with respect to tube rolling (I have three tall drawers full of tubes), these days I don't bother. It's not that it doesn't matter, but you'll see that most of the 'best tubes' are old production, and somehow though everyone claims to be selling 'NEW Old Stock'...- jelt2359

I see you live in Tokyo. Lucky. They are really pricy outside of Japan, but I love my Airtight and Almarro amps. Sell the Schiit amp (you can keep the DAC), hunt down a Japanese tube amp equipped with Japanese output trafos, and hook up your HE1000 via an adaptor. Bliss.- jelt2359
