    Seattle / Redmond Meet?

I would love an eastside/MSFT meet. My work commute is kind of massive so going to Seattle is possible but a drag. I have some LCD-XC's I'd bring with an ifi BL, sure would love an opportunity to try these out on some other amps/DACs.

Is the importance of a DAC exaggerated? Just got a Mojo, and it sounds... sterile.

For those curious, I got the ifi BL in yesterday, waited to mail back the Mojo 'til I'd tried them out side-by-side. Using the bass boost and 3D switches on the ifi was basically not optional, but once applied they dramatically improved the sound. I'd say the Mojo had a slightly better sound...

^lol. Yes, I see things getting out of hand rather quickly. But, once you experience pure harmonic bliss, there's really no choice in the matter of pursuing its reproduction...

Looks like the Play comes with several different options for stock op-amps at significantly different prices. Any suggestions for something on the warmer side?

The Violectrics are above my price range for an amp alone. I'm leaning toward Modi Multibit with an Ember 2, seems likely to provide pretty good bang for buck. Edit: Actually, after some reading in the LCD-XC threads, seems like Ember isn't likely to be a good match. After reading that thread...

Is the importance of a DAC exaggerated? Just got a Mojo, and it sounds... sterile.

The Play looks interesting. I'm not really familiar with op-amps and would have to do some reading to understand what I'd be getting into there, but I after reading @ProtegeManiac's suggestions I started pondering the Project Ember as it is a solid-state output tube amp (no op-amp support...

Is the importance of a DAC exaggerated? Just got a Mojo, and it sounds... sterile.

Yeah, I do need the closed cups in my work environment. Plus I really love these headphones. It's hard to believe I wouldn't see big improvements with a warmer amp, admittedly partially because I read quite a few posts on here before making my purchase and saw some pretty mixed responses about...

Is the importance of a DAC exaggerated? Just got a Mojo, and it sounds... sterile.

When I got my LCD-XC's, the richness of the sound blew me away, but the amplification limitations of my hardware were immediately obvious. I was planning to wait, but I ordered a Mojo right off. Richness, gone. The sound is bright, bland, clinical. Gets loud, but that's about it. Sounded better...

DAC bitrate limitations, how much do they matter?

That's good to hear. I read some posts from members who weren't super hot on the Mojo with LCD's, but then again there is an opinion to back up or refute every possible setup around here. The Mojo is more appealing to me overall. I was only interested in the Deckard since it was made to pair...

DAC bitrate limitations, how much do they matter?

The Deckard was available for $350 refurbished from Audeze yesterday when I made the thread and is now back to standard price. God damnit. Maybe I'll get a Mojo after all. Bah. O cruel fate.

Cool, thanks for the help. I'll get the Deckard.

DAC bitrate limitations, how much do they matter?

I've been agonizing for a while over what DAC/amp combo to get for my LCD-XC's, and have found an extremely good deal on Audeze's own Deckard DAC/amp, which seems perfect since it was virtually made for these cans. My only hangup is that the DAC doesn't go above 192kHz/24-bit on Windows. Seems...

    Warm-ish mid-budget amps for Audeze LCD-XC?

Thanks for the advice. The Ember in particular looks solid for the price. I'll spend some time looking into it.

    Warm-ish mid-budget amps for Audeze LCD-XC?

I recently decided to start investing in audiophile-grade equipment, starting with headphones since I spend the largest portion of most days at work. Being as my office environment is open, the cans gotta be closed. After much research and agonizing over options, I'm pretty confident the best...
