Alternative to ATH-A900X? post-rock, trance, gaming

The only other closed headphones that seemed to fit the warm sound is Mr Headphone's Mad Dog, but those are a bit pricier.

So after evaluating the need for sound isolation, I think I need closed cans. Is there something a bit warmer than the HP 100s that would go well with the O2 Amp? I may be pushing my luck, as it seems the DT770 is only marginally better than the M50s.

http://www.head-fi.org/t/526839/dt880-vs-dt990-comparison-review   That really turns me off on those cans. The thread is filled with similar opinions.

I am not that into the ATH-A900Xs, not sure if it is because of seal, or them overall. I certainly prefer the M50s. So will the HP 100s or the DT 880s be the better option?

What would you recommend that I do in this situation? I am at a loss. If the HP 100s didn't have "cold" issues with the O2 I would certainly buy them. Otherwise I guess it is the DT880s?

From what I have read, it seems as though the HP 100s are the best option I have. Their bass is a bit nicer than the DT880s and they are closed. In all other areas they seem about equivalent.   My only concern was that one reviewer thought they did poor with the Objective 2 amp. I could not...

Alternative to ATH-A900X? post-rock, trance, gaming

I have never owned anything but closed headphones. Is it worth checking out? I do live with other people currently, so if it is fully open (arent the DT880s half open?) it may be a problem.   I currently have an ASUS Xonar DX sound card, so I am covered as far as a DAC goes. I have already...

How would  the DT880s 250Ohms stand up against the HP 100 and A900X?

I followed that advice in the other thread in which I asked you about this. It did certainly improve the wings performance, but didn't completely fix it.   From what I read in the ATH-A900X owners thread, the Hifiman pads (either velour or leather) did not really improve seal.

I am willing to spend a bit more, say $250. I would like to stick with closed headphones as I live with other people.   I will be building the O2 amp so that should not be a problem (and I have a ASUS Xonar DX).   As for "modding" the A900Xs, I don't feel like I should need to modify $200...

Alternative to ATH-A900X? post-rock, trance, gaming

A month ago I asked for recommendations on some new headphones to replace my ATH-M50s (  ) and it was suggested that I get the ATH-A900Xs.   I quite like the ATH-A900Xs, however, the clamping force is not quite sufficient. When I apply slight pressure to each pad the immersion and quality are...

Audio-Technica ATH-A900X: Impressions, Reviews, Mods, etc.

I actually prefer the sound of my ATH-M50s when I just let the ATH-A900Xs sit on my head. When I press the cups together, it is much better.   Perhaps I should return them and get something else?

So back to pads, I need to decide on some that will improve the seal. The wings aren't really the problem at this point.
