My fiance and I are seeking employment in Vietnam and China, Advice?

My fiance and I wanted to travel before settling down, and her Viet/Chinese heritage landed us in HCMC.  We've been living in District 3 and vigorously applying for jobs since January without much luck.  I have a B.A. in Comp Sci, and she has two bachelor's in English and Art History. After...

iTunes Smart Playlist, filter by artists without a rated song?

Sorry I should have been more clear.  So I have 10+ Tom Waits albums.  If I rate any song from one of those albums, I no longer want any Tom Waits to enter the playlist.  Currently, I don't think there's a way to do this.

iTunes Smart Playlist, filter by artists without a rated song?

If I've rated any of an artist's songs I don't want them coming up in the playlist.     Is there a way to do this?

    mc5 cord noise

Thanks for the advice, but it doesn't help when I'm jamming shirtless.  I suppose i could tape the cord to my chest, but I'm really hairy.  Oh well.  I'm surprised no one has mentioned this problem.  Microphonics have been a non-issue with Shures and Sennheiser IEMs.

    mc5 cord noise

I'm not sure if my headphones are defective or if I'm going crazy, but the MC5 have intolerable cord noise... some of the time.  The slightest cord movement or something touching the cord interrupts the music, like someone putting a dixie cup over your ear and tapping it.   I'm using the...

Canon 50mm f/1.2 L, talk me out of it.

Update: I convinced my college to buy the 24L, 50mm Sigma, 100L Macro for our student group. Yay! (I'm president of the filmmaking club)   My friend and I looked at a lot of comparisons between the Canon/Sigma 50mm 1.4 and the 1.2L.  In some cases, like lens flare and sharpness, the Canon...

Which IEM best meets my needs?

I just finished an hour long phone call with my ex, which put me in a mood.  After I got off the phone I remembered I needed to new pair of headphones.  Hopefully my state of mind doesn't rub you the wrong way.   I haven't kept up with IEMs much.  Maybe the wonderful members of Head-Fi can...

Help, I need legal advice! Roofers damaged my car.

I just talked on the phone with him and recorded the call.  On the call I have his agreement to pay for the damages.  He's wanting to write the body shop a check, which I'm fine with, but I'm not sure of the logistics.

Help, I need legal advice! Roofers damaged my car.

I wish you were my real uncle.  Thanks a lot for the advice!   Here's the update, before I got replies to this thread I spoke with the owner/manager of the roofing company.  He verbally agreed to cover the cost if I went and got estimates.  He said he'd rather pay out of pocket if it was...

Help, I need legal advice! Roofers damaged my car.

I rent an apartment (a house divided into 3 apartments) with a shared driveway in Medford, MA.  Mid-August I left to go home (Missouri) for two weeks.  I parked my car in the very back of the driveway.  I left for the airport on Aug 14th.  On August 18th they emailed all of the tenants asking to...

Canon 50mm f/1.2 L, talk me out of it.

Quote: If I hadn't gotten a sweet deal on a 40d 2 years ago, I'd be sitting fat with good AF and superior high iso performance.  Oh well,  I'll probably, marry, divorce, and remarry before I could decide to jump the Canon ship.

Canon 50mm f/1.2 L, talk me out of it.

I've had the priviledge of using the 50mm L twice in past year (a friend had rented it to shoot a video).  It's been 3 weeks since I last used it, and I'm still thinking about it.  I have the means to get it, but it's so expensive.  $1000 more than the f/1.4 (a lens I haven't used).  A family...

I'm considering teaching English in Asia, does anyone have advice?

Quote: Yeah, I thought the same thing at first, but everyone has assured me that this is a non-issue.   Edit: To clarify, I won't graduate until May 2011, so I have some time to plan for this.

I'm considering teaching English in Asia, does anyone have advice?

I've taken many upper-level English classes in college (received all A/A-'s), I'm also well-read, write decent poetry, and excel in college's English in general.  In HS I got a 6 on the IB English exam.  I realize this isn't equivalent to an English degree, but I'm saying I could provide a...
