HD800S for classic ore what is better
I started with the 800s and still enjoy them and consider them a good reference headphone, most people have heard them so when you compare to them everyone gets it. I currently own the 800s, HE1000se, Meze Emperiam, ZMF Atriam, Focal Stella, Audeze LC-3. I rotate them on 3 different amps and I...- wirewiggler

Introducing ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd - First Standalone Portable Android Player by ONIX
I have a M0, it is a nice little player. Not sure if the pro would warrant an upgrade. It plays flawless and that is what I expected of the XM10. I am also interested in the SM1.3 for my second home, I use Roon in my primary. Bill- wirewiggler

High end dap vs phone + dac/amp
I doubt that, when you look at the dac chips (and supporting hardware) in a good dap they are superior to those used in most dongles. How ever you can accept a lower quality sound reproduction for convenience, and not everyone can tell the difference.- wirewiggler

Introducing ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd - First Standalone Portable Android Player by ONIX
I am not really sure if they did any market research on this. I think the dap market may be a little saturated with dedicated devices that are a bit large to be convenient. My most used playback device is a pair of bone conduction headphones that have some internal storage and Blue tooth...- wirewiggler

Introducing ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd - First Standalone Portable Android Player by ONIX
Support got back to me, the say the first batch had wrong firmware loaded on it. I am going to se if Hifigo will let me return it, as they don’t seem to have a way to load the firmware remotely. I will look into the smaller Shanling unit as I am looking for something just to drive IEMs. Bill- wirewiggler

High end dap vs phone + dac/amp
It is 2025 now, I wonder if the dac/headphone combined with phone has closed the gap between the sound quality of good daps? Bill- wirewiggler

Introducing ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd - First Standalone Portable Android Player by ONIX
Yep this was an impulse buy, I was hoping for something with as high quality sound as my Cayin unit but smaller and more portable. I think I will look in a different direction, a dac/ amp combo that I can plug Into my phone. My Roon home system uses inexpensive computer modules combined with a...- wirewiggler

Introducing ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd - First Standalone Portable Android Player by ONIX
It is a smooth not analytical , nice soundstage, nice bass not super deep but to my liking. Female vocals come forward like they should, treble is pleasant not fatiguing. I like it I am listening with Dunu SA6, CCA Hydra, and a couple other similar IEMs. I really like the sound, however it is a...- wirewiggler

Introducing ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd - First Standalone Portable Android Player by ONIX
I have a Cayin N7, and Hiby R6 pro. It sounds much like the Hiby (same dac chip) and close to the N7 R2R. Not as much drive but fine for IEM. I like the sound of it, when I get it sorted out for Google play I am sure it will be fine.- wirewiggler

Introducing ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd - First Standalone Portable Android Player by ONIX
Well everything else aside it does sound good ( the main objective). I was just hoping to be able to use it for multiple things when I travel. I will use it with IEMs so it has plenty of power, good bass slam. All my home dacs are R2R and the AKM dacs sound pretty close to them so I like the sound.- wirewiggler

It is also a shame the usb port is not a display port, I put a 1tb sd card on it and I would have liked it to be able to plug in Xreal display glasses and use it for movies and games. I would probably return them but Hifigo charges a arm and a leg for returns, between them saying they have...- wirewiggler

Introducing ONIX Waltz XM10 Ltd - First Standalone Portable Android Player by ONIX
I am quite surprised the size and weight, I know if I had just read the specs. I wanted something a little more portable them my Cayin N7/C9. I does sound good, I have a Hiby with this dac chip set and like it just don’t like it’s buttons. While it is made by Shanling under the ONIX name it is...- wirewiggler
