Looking for a new sound setup for gaming and music
Hi there Head-Fi! It's been a while since I posted on these forums, as I have now sold the previously recommended Hifiman HE-400s as I moved to Japan for almost two years ago. Now I have been using my gaming headphones (Razer BlackShark V2), which are honestly decent but I am now looking for an...- VirtualBoost

Mission: Replace the HiFiMAN ear pads with other brand ear pads
I'm looking at switching my pads of my HE-400S to something else, as I find them a bit stiff. I've heard that you can get better sound with other pads than stock, which made me curious. However, I'm not sure what to get. I don't think I want leather pads. Instead, I want to have cloth ones...- VirtualBoost

Looking for a new setup for my PC
I'm terribly lazy when it comes to push-to-talk when talking on Discord, so I think that it would be easier to just have a ModMic instead so that it picks up less keyboard noise and so on.- VirtualBoost

Looking for a new setup for my PC
Hi again! I have been using my HE-400S for some time now and I'm still loving them. Now, I've been thinking about selling my Blue Yeti microphone and instead buy a ModMic 5. However, I was curious about where I should stick the magnet on. I read that it could affect the sound quality of the...- VirtualBoost

Looking for a new setup for my PC
Status update! I just got my JDS Labs The Element and my HE-400S. I love them a lot, the headphones are really damn comfortable, sounds great and the The Element is great. Thanks so much for the help guys, appreciate it alot! I might change the pads on the headphones to the FocusPads or the...- VirtualBoost

Looking for a new setup for my PC
Yeah, I thought so as well. I will probably buy it from Sweden, as I talked to the support on a well-renowned seller and they could push the price down approximately 50$. They also offer 3-year warranty on everything they sell so that's good to have!- VirtualBoost

Cool, I might get them then. Checking Swedish prices, the HE-400S goes for 461$ approximately. Is that "too" much for these headphones? The price is not a problem but I was thinking if I could buy them slightly cheaper from a EU store. Does anyone know a good seller for these headphones? EDIT...- VirtualBoost

Looking for a new setup for my PC
Awesome, I will probably end up getting them when my next paycheck arrives. Thanks so much for the help. I will also go for The Element at a later date, as I got help from JDS Labs to find a German-based seller for their products! Is there anything else I should think of or am I good to go? I...- VirtualBoost

That would be super kind of you. I feel bad for making you listen to my music, haha! But listen to these and say what sounds the best (not even sure if these are good for testing): Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas - Cast Your Shell FACT - Miles Away Deafheaven - Gifts for the Earth Shoji Meguro...- VirtualBoost

Looking for a new setup for my PC
I have that one actually, namely the Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming 7. However, it is plagued by static noise coming from my GTX 1080 Ti (coil whine), so haven't been able to test it properly. Alright, cool. So I have three promising headphones now: HD650 HD598 HE400S At the moment, HE400S sounds...- VirtualBoost

Looking for a new setup for my PC
Aha, I see. Perhaps these could be a better alternative? They look neat! Checking the impedance, it seems that Fiio E10k would be able to drive them fine. What is the difference between HE-400S and HE-400i? Is it a huge jump between these two? Also, while on the topic of DAC/AMP, how much of...- VirtualBoost

Looking for a new setup for my PC
Ah, yeah. The wait will be painful (for my head aswell) even though the midnight blue color is really nice. It's a very good price though, but I wonder if I can bother waiting so long for them. Is the HD650 still a good option (costs 400$ in Sweden)? Or should I go for something else entirely?- VirtualBoost

Alright, sounds good. Yeah, I probably will get a Schitt stack, since they can be shipped from Germany so I don't get any extra fees (customs, etc). How does Massdrop items work? Do you pay for them immediately or do you pay when the drop has ended?- VirtualBoost
