I'd agree with obsidyen, low impedance and possible benefits of MQA (any test files available publicly yet?) given the low price point make it a no brainer to go with the newer version.

Mine arrived s few days ago. I found it immediately more enjoyable than the explorer1. I haven't cruticslly listened yet, just plugged it in and listened to a few well known tracks. Bass is significantly better with my unique melody miracles. I'd be interested in trying high end 6" sub leads...

First Ive heard of micro usb being used on an explorer!? Where did you hear/see this?

I spoke to my dealer this afternoon who checked in with Meridian. I was advised to contact them through the web site (which directs to an email address I understand but I havent done it yet), Meridian are expecting my mail and have a unit held back for me.  Doesnt seem like a big deal - wonder...

As a company they dont talk much to anyone, see the Hitchhikers Meridian forum for some of the resentment it caused over product announcements and upgrades etc.  Having dealt with Meridian as a consumer for 15+ years now, I would say they are a reputable business and are likely to do the right...

Yes, you can use the lineout of the ME to drive a dedicated headphone amplifier. I actually just tried that exact thing this afternoon with my Headamp Pico amp using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. I preferred the sound headphone output of the Explorer, even with its technically inferior output stage...

wow, that sucks. Any chance of a refund given they weren't "fit for purpose"?   My advice would be to speak to Paul to make sure you personally understand whats needed, his reiterated his instructions are clear but many audioligists dont understand they need a full mould including the bits...
