NEWS: Meridian Releases The Explorer Pocket-Sized USB DAC
I'd agree with obsidyen, low impedance and possible benefits of MQA (any test files available publicly yet?) given the low price point make it a no brainer to go with the newer version.- vikingboy

NEWS: Meridian Releases The Explorer Pocket-Sized USB DAC
Mine arrived s few days ago. I found it immediately more enjoyable than the explorer1. I haven't cruticslly listened yet, just plugged it in and listened to a few well known tracks. Bass is significantly better with my unique melody miracles. I'd be interested in trying high end 6" sub leads...- vikingboy

NEWS: Meridian Releases The Explorer Pocket-Sized USB DAC
I spoke to my dealer this afternoon who checked in with Meridian. I was advised to contact them through the web site (which directs to an email address I understand but I havent done it yet), Meridian are expecting my mail and have a unit held back for me. Doesnt seem like a big deal - wonder...- vikingboy

NEWS: Meridian Releases The Explorer Pocket-Sized USB DAC
As a company they dont talk much to anyone, see the Hitchhikers Meridian forum for some of the resentment it caused over product announcements and upgrades etc. Having dealt with Meridian as a consumer for 15+ years now, I would say they are a reputable business and are likely to do the right...- vikingboy

Meridian Explorer DAC/Amp Stream of Consciousness Review (WARNING: Not Good)
Yes, you can use the lineout of the ME to drive a dedicated headphone amplifier. I actually just tried that exact thing this afternoon with my Headamp Pico amp using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. I preferred the sound headphone output of the Explorer, even with its technically inferior output stage...- vikingboy

Quote: Thats a pretty interesting site, thanks for the heads-up. Ive got some Unique Melody Miracles inbound so will be interesting to see how they react with the ME. A much lower impedance and more detailed presentation so should show any weaknesses easily.- vikingboy

NEWS: Meridian Releases The Explorer Pocket-Sized USB DAC
Has anyone / any dealers spoken to Meridian about this "issue"? Have they acknowledged a problem? To me there isn't one, the sound with my Shure E530's is as crisp and clean/controlled as with my sub 1 Ohm Pico DAC output and nothing to suggest that the ME is lacking control as a result of its...- vikingboy

Unique Melody Miracle Review & Impressions Thread
wow, that sucks. Any chance of a refund given they weren't "fit for purpose"? My advice would be to speak to Paul to make sure you personally understand whats needed, his reiterated his instructions are clear but many audioligists dont understand they need a full mould including the bits...- vikingboy

NEWS: Meridian Releases The Explorer Pocket-Sized USB DAC
Im no electrical engineer so all the talk about high impedance values etc dont mean that much to me but what I hear with my Meridian Explorer (output impedance circa 47 Ohm) vs my Headamp Pico Amp/DAC (Output Impedance <1 Ohm) with my Shure E530 earphones (36 Ohm Impedance) is an more impactful...- vikingboy

UM Miracle's ordered this afternoon with The Headphone Company, Paul was great and took two sets of impressions to make sure they were spot on. Great professional service and very highly recommended. Now the countdown to delivery starts.....- vikingboy
