ALAC vs. AAC (320)
AAC or ALAC- It just all depends on your personal preference. If you want the best sound possible from your rig, then go for the ALAC, but ONLY if you can hear the difference between lossy codecs. ALAC kills the battery reaaaallly fast and fills up the hard drive quickly.(I only have about 150...- unkoman

ALAC vs. AAC (320)
richard, First I emptied my ipod. Then I ripped songs that I'm really familiar with(probably listened to them over 100 times) to ALAC, AAC 320, and AAC VBR 256. I named the songs with random numbers and letters so that I can't tell which files are which, and loaded them into my pod. Then I...- unkoman

Which wastes more battery?
Some say that AIFF/WAV is more battery life friendly than lossless because it requires less CPU cycle to decode it. Yet, uncompressed files are HUGE, and the hardrive will have spin almost every five minutes. ???- unkoman

Which wastes more battery?
Thanks for the reply. I know that eq will eatup extra current, but file size of lossless is about twice as big as 320kb/s so the harddrive has to spin up more frequently.- unkoman

Saving a loved one from Bose
HD280 provides really good isolation for a closed can, but I don't think it can match an IEM. I used to own the phone and used in airplanes and it provided decent isolation, but it is uncomparable to the isolation provided by my e4 w/ foam tips.- unkoman

Just got A900 - Disappointing? Help
Don't make critical judgement of the phone until it is burned in for certain amount of time. For example, when I first listened to my HD595, my first impression was muffled, bloated bass, and no highs. After few days of burn in, the sound chnaged dramatically.- unkoman

Thanks for the replies. When I goto the imporitng option menu, I can only change the bitrate and other basic options. Every aac file that I encode is in low complexity mode.- unkoman

AAC complexity setting
I just got my ipod and started using itune(vr.6) to encode AAC files. I have two questions: 1. How do I change the complexity level of AAC encoding? 2. Are there better AAC encoders than the itune? Thanks- unkoman

portable amp around $100
Found another amp that fits in my budget: the Mini head AKA mini moy. I read a review that compared vibe and mini moy and the reviewer stated that mini moy outperformed the vibe in sound q, but vibe has the advantage of opamp rolling.- unkoman

portable amp around $100
How are the treble and bass response of the vibe? I'm really sensitive to rolled off highs and lows, especially in the 40-hz and 17+khz zone. Most portable dap headphone outs have roll off issues on both end, and that is why I'm considering an amp for my portable set up. Thanks- unkoman

How good is your hearing;favored headphone?
My hearing range is about 30hz-17.9khz. As for my sound/sonic signiture (of phones) taste, I'm really sensitive to treble, especially in the 8khz-12khz and 16khz-20khz range, and tend to like senn sound.- unkoman
