I am living in a college dorm right now and planning buy a cheap subwoofer for my simple desktop speaker set up. My budget is really low and wondering if there are any decent subwoofers under $100. I am going to use the sub with my stereo reciever .

For under $100, used is the only way to go, plus its not worth it to pay shipping for a cheap sub.

I've had some Labtec Slabs that are awesome for the past 6 years now... They came with a sub and sound better than every computer 3-speaker system I've came accross. The bass on the sub is crazy. You'll need to put some sort of deadaning material under the sub though as the speaker and vent is on the bottom. I just took some ups bubble pak and it sounds great. The bass is tight and DEEEEEEEEEP. The speakers could probably sound better un the upper highs, but all around, it's an awesome system.

While back for $100 dollars you could have a pretty decent subwoofer. Too bad they don't sell it anymore. It is a KLH subwoofer, Model is GFX600. J&R used to have it but not anymore. It went for about $79 dollars on clearance sale.

Its a 10" driver in a 4th order bandpass box with 125w max output from the bulit-in plate amp.

Even though the subwoofer itself is very "flashy" looking it is pretty good. Very deep extended bass, the subwoofer speaker itself is an very efficient high quality design similar to more expensive subwoofer. It has just about enough bass to make your walls vibrate if you really wanted to turn it up.

I haven an Energy e:XL S10 listed on eBay right now. not sure what head-fi's policy is on advertising but i'm sure you can find it. It's a pretty decent sub and should go for around what you're looking for.

sony use to make a 12" sub that has long been considered a good cheap sub...model # isn't coming to mind though. I got one for a buddy in college and it was in fact an awsome sub for under $100.

*found that sub model #, it's Sony SA-WM40...def get one if you can on eBay, don't try to find something new in for under $100.
