    How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial

    Quote: Here's what I ended up with:   I used a demo version of Signalsuite to do the tone sweep. You'll open the "Periodic Signals" tab to find a frequency slider. You'll also find pink/white generation under the Noise Signals tab.   For EQ, I'm using Audio Hijack Pro, using a...

    The Audio-gd Compass (Was: Designing an alternative to the Zero DAC/amp)

    New to head-fi.org and shopping for headphone amp/DAC, overwhelmed with offerings

    I've been in a very similar place. I've been using an RSA predator portable amp/dac for a while now, but I've wanted to step up to a desktop unit that sounds great but doesn't break the bank. I just ordered a Compass, and I suggest checking out the thread (maybe start with the faq). The...

    Pls help with EQ for Yuin PK1

    I often run them un-amped from my iPhone 3G but the PK1s really do sound better with amplification. Even a cheap Fiio might help a lot. A few things to try in the meantime: Try the foam covers if you haven't already. I prefer the sound of the doughnuts (deepens the sound a little), but try...

    The Audio-gd Compass (Was: Designing an alternative to the Zero DAC/amp)

    Something like this would be perfect for me. As someone who's relatively new to high-end phones, I don't yet have a stable of high-end dedicated amps to place at my various listening stations. The Zero is very attractive to me, as well as to a lot of other newbies, because it's an...

    Airport Express->???-> HD650 for $250?

    The Sterophile article is what swayed me to pick one up in the first place. I understand the 16/44 limitation, but given where I'm at with my motley music library, I've got several thousand dollars worth of mp3/aac music to repurchase before I'm in a position to worry about it :-)

    Airport Express->???-> HD650 for $250?

    Thanks all for the suggestions, especially for the special cable which I'm sure would have left me spinning my wheels.

    Airport Express->???-> HD650 for $250?

    I picked up an Airport Express last week and have finally got it set up on the bedside table to stream airtunes. With my iPhone and the Remote app, it's actually incredibly cool-- it will stream lossless music from my desktop at the other end of the house, all controled right from my phone...

    Amp option for iPhone?

    x2 to NC8000's comments. I'm running a pair of Yuin PK1's (fairly power-hungry) directly from an iPhone 3G and they've got plenty of power to drive them with authority. They have a slightly wider soundstage driven from my iPod 5G+Predator, but I'm not missing a whole lot beyond that. Andrew

    Great service

    I've been a lurker here on head-fi for a few months but I just had to post about the great service I've received from Fang at Head-Direct. After a lot of research here, I pulled the trigger on a set of Yuin PK1s and a ZyCable iPod LOD a few weeks ago. I'm just starting to get "The Head-fi...
