Wow, I'm having your exact same issues and found this through a google search! I've tried switching USB cables without any luck. This is really frustrating!! Prior to these problems, I've never unplugged or plugged in my Modi, but I have to replug it in at least 30 times to get it to register now.

I got my Denon D2000 from the source he listed. You have to call over the phone and "haggle" with them. I didn't feel like haggling too hard so I just got them for $225 shipped.
