Baby on the way...advice from Head-Fi dads?

Dr. Brown bottles are not Bpa-free. Feel free to google and do research on bpa, there is something called the Z report as well that can help you. My wife bought pricy Born-free bottles but I don't like how many parts I have to clean and they are the most expensive choice since they are strongly...

Baby on the way...advice from Head-Fi dads?

Consider buying a pricy good quality breast pump from the likes of Medela especially if your hospital does not provide you loaners of hospital grade ones after childbirth. Even if your wife has no problem nursing right off the bat it will remain useful in giving mom some downtime to rest at...

Baby on the way...advice from Head-Fi dads?

This is going to be my first post in what... maybe 2 years? I stopped by to voyeur how things were going over here and also in consideration of offloading some long unused and neglected gear. Wasn't intending to post much but your post caught my attention. In two years absence I believe I've...

M-Audio calls this an update? ( new audiophile USB driver)

Very pleasant suprise as I thought this product was end-of-life and would get no further updates. I ditched foobar until the new version gets settled and am happily using MediaMonkey with ASIO plugin and Shibatch mpg123 mp3 decoder. ASIO worked off the bat. Of course it worked before. However I...

    Okay this infuriates me...

There are some roles that require a great deal of both intelligence *and* ambition, and I have found that the people in those roles are pretty fit and active. Of course maybe as they grow older they may verge towards slightly overweight depending on diet, genetics, and lifestyle like many...

I did a scientific test on a power conditioner--IT WORKS!!!

My sources may be out of date, but I believe the ear can hear differences of around 1db in good conditions. .1-.5db is a bit optimistic...that is like saying everyone can tell channel mismatches in volume pots or sources outright and confidently which is not true since a lot of equipment aren't...

I did a scientific test on a power conditioner--IT WORKS!!!

There are two measurements that explain what I am talking about. Noise Floor measurements and S/N Ratio's. One is noise without signal and one is noise with signal. I am just saying poor noise floor is the lesser of two evils compared to poor S/N Ratio. If you had an amp that had a -90 db S/N...

You can both be right. A water purifier could be considered worthless to someone who drinks pure water naturally. Additionally just because a power conditioner is expensive doesn't mean it is well designed either. The Furman unit is produced by a pro-audio/broadcast company and doesn't sell...

I did a scientific test on a power conditioner--IT WORKS!!!

It depends...in my experience the noise can just be part of the noise floor (i.e. sits at the bottom), but it can also sit on top of your signal. Obviously the noise that sits on top of the signal is more harmful than a slight 3db rise in noise floor. But I would agree that if you have a ground...

    New Mac Mini!

The dedicated video card in my laptop is a generation better than the one in the original mac mini and it doesn't do anything except burn 10-15 degree's hotter than the CPU and supply mediocre 3d performance if I wanted to play 3d games on it...which I haven't yet. Course I got it anyways over...

    New USB-DAC! Silverstone Ensemble EB01!

You can verify it by trying the laptop again on battery supply. Also ground loop might affect some amps and not others. Probably a very poor generalization, but I find that amps that run off dedicated DC power supplies tend to have a little more immunity.
