Best quality neutral CIEM under 400 dollars

I currently have a pair of Earsonic sm1's that I would like to upgrade in a couple of ways: 1. I feel as though they lack some detail; i appreciate the neutral sound signature, however I could do with more detail, soundstage and perhaps a tinge of warmth 2. They have less than impressive...

Headphone frequency response charts do not make any sense!

During a psychology class, I came across a graph displaying the sensitivity to frequencies humans posses.  It was similar to the attached graph. As our sensitivity to high and low frequencies is lesser, we would thus (to the extent of my knowledge) require a superior amplitude of these...

Sennheiser HD 6,7 & 8 DJ thread. Opinions, reviews, feedback, pics, discussions, etc.

I currently have a pair of HE-400's  and am looking to move to a closed back headphone. I would like it to retain the same V shape signature, although with a slightly more neutral touch (tune the bass down a bit. I want a bit of a V signature, but nothing too distracting). Which one would be ideal?

Sub-500$ closed back headphones that sound like HE-400's

Like the d5000? Other than a tad bit too much bass (which I can just EQ), they might fit the bill. Another aspect I would like to see is good isolation (Otherwise I could kind of just stick with the HE-400's), and apparently the D5000's don't isolate too well. Are there pads that could be...

Sub-500$ closed back headphones that sound like HE-400's

As the title states, I am looking for a pair of closed back headphones to replace my HE-400's. I want the same sound signature (V with great bass), although perhaps a bit more flat (yet still retaining the fun signature). It has to be less than 500$; portability is a bonus, but not obligatory

Impact of Alpha pads on fostex t50rp

I recently bought a pair of T50rp's to figure out what all the fuss was about modding them. My initial impressions were that the bass was bloated and the whole thing had no detail. I covered the inside of the cups with dynamat and stuffed some cotton balls inside. It brought out a ton of detail...

Mod to reduce clutter on Fostex T50rp anyone?

I'm just using a stereo receiver: Onkyo HT-R330. It runs my HE-400's and DT-800's (250ohm) just fine, so I would assume it is the headphones.

Mod to reduce clutter on Fostex T50rp anyone?

Hey head-fi. I recently purchased a pair of Fostex T50rp's to mod them. One of my goals is to reduce the clutter and lack of detail that these experience when they are overloaded with complex music. (Definition goes out the door, it kind of all just jumbles together into a stew of eeewwwww.)...

Looking for best over-ear closed back headphones

Thanks! I will probably end up on the DIY page looking for inspiration , but I hope it turns out!

Looking for best over-ear closed back headphones

Then I think the d2000 with Lawton pads are a no go. I have the dt880's and the treble is way to harsh for me on some tracks for me. I am considering buying a pair of T50rp's and modding to match my signature sound. If I can buy them for 70 and mod them to match, I could save myself quite the penny.

Looking for best over-ear closed back headphones

I have heard that the denons have a bit of a flabby bass. I honestly cannot stand muddy sounding HP's or lack of detail. Would the ah-d2000's fit the bill?

Looking for best over-ear closed back headphones

I forgot to add, I also have a pair of dt 880's that I really like, but the treble is just too bright for me and it sometimes sounds a bit thin, although I assume that is caused by it having less bass then I am used to. I have a few headphones I was considering: B&O H6 (super neutral, however I...

Looking for best over-ear closed back headphones

Hey head-fi. I am posting this on behalf of one of my friends. He is looking for a pair of closed-back over-ear headphones for traveling. That means very good isolation, no sound leakage (good seal) and comfortable for long periods of time. On top of that, he has a wider head, if that is to be...

    DT 880 removable cable mod

Hey head-fi. Unfortunately, the title of this thread may be misleading, as I have not yet done this mod. In fact, I am looking for help. A lot of it. I would like to make a dual entry removable cable for my dt 880's, with a cable that locks in (mini xlr?). It does not need to be balanced. Due to...
