ya it seems that there is a lot that can go wrong with buying all the parts up and assembling. I have mulled over the headwize forum and it seems very time consuming and worrisome building amps and DACs. Plus I am going to be a full time student and I think I will go for a combo Amp/DAC for now...

I find my self with this dilemma as well. I am a student and thus I dont have a ton of money to spend and my source unit will be my laptop, thus I need a DAC and amp. For around 300 there is the Beresford and Audio-gd Compass. Many people on this forum love the Compass and apparently the price...

So after some research, if it comes down to it I think I might go with a Compass. They seem to be a good bang for the buck. I would love to hear some input from some Compass owners.
