ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod
I finally got around to redoing my pair. Bought a broken pair on eBay, red this time. Fully deconstructed both pairs of headphones, did a complete rewire with mogami and got rid of the wimpy, ready-to-snap Angel's hair they dared to call wire. Aftermath of 2 disassembled M50's. Transplanted...- Senpai3330

Where to buy: Thin sleeving for single conductors?
Actually ended up buying "micro paracord" off ebay which is Type 1 paracord... I think. There's a bunch of stuff listed under "2 mm paracord" which is the same stuff.- Senpai3330

DIY Cable Gallery!!
There is. It's incredibly dumb and I remember it was like $40+ a foot or something on eBay. EDIT: Actually the price isn't bad at all... I might make a Gold plated OCC cable now for the hell of it.- Senpai3330

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
Sorry, bit of a repost of my question but the DIY forum mainpage is a bit dead and I need an answer fast: There are a few cables out on the market right now like the Effect Audio Thor (pictured) that are using individual nylon/cloth sleeving for each conductor in the braid instead of just one...- Senpai3330

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
Wait wait wait. Sanity check: why do you need 30 feet of Mogami cable? Just making sure you know W2893 is a quad cable already, there's 4 conductors inside the outer sheathe. And yep you'll need some heatshrink (I recommend buying a variety pack for ~$9 off amazon so you'll have any size you...- Senpai3330

ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod
It's hard to tell from the crappy pictures, but the hole where the mini-XLR goes in is kind of a mangled mess. I'm in the process of buying a broken pair and using its housing to redo the whole thing. The locking nature of the XLR honestly ended up being unnecessary, so yeah just a needless pain...- Senpai3330

Where to buy: Thin sleeving for single conductors?
There are a few cables out on the market right now like the Effect Audio Thor (pictured) that are using individual nylon/cloth sleeving for each conductor in the braid instead of just one protective covering over the entire braid. I absolutely love the aesthetic and want to recreate it on a few...- Senpai3330

ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod
I-i-it's not like I made a detachable mini-XLR version too a year ago or anything... stupid casper and his stupid better workmanship :p But in all seriousness this was a miserable experience and a good lesson about DIY hubris. I made the mod right after building my Beta22 and felt...- Senpai3330

Should I see an audiologist?
I recently noticed my ears have a channel imbalance so to speak. My left hears things noticeably louder than my right. I have good listening habits, safe volumes, rarely go live concerts. I don't think noise-induced hearing loss is very likely. I've confirmed the issue isn't my equipment (tried...- Senpai3330

Clever uses for Beyer DT880 Pads?
I got a pair of old spares sitting around. I've always like the pad (wasn't a huge fan of the phones). Do they fit on anything else or work for a mod? I don't hear too much about them.- Senpai3330

Charlotte, NC meet April 19, 2014 <> meet impressions
It would've been $80 to rent a car to come see you guys in Charlotte, but just looking at the photos makes me feel like that price would've been worth it. Hoping for more great meets in NC! (Psssttt triangle area this time!) -
