    Bowers&Wilkins new flagship the P9!

My opinion is that the P9 is tuned specifically for the way music is mastered (or remastered) today and listened to from an iPhone or iPad, and as such it's kind of pointless to scale them up with something better than the inline DAC that's supplied with it, much less something that's more...

    ZMF Auteur Thread

More like Black Label blended vs. a good 18 year old single malt Scotch whiskey. Had the LCD2C, enjoyed it, but sold it once I got the Teak Auteur. There's a considerable increase in cost but you do get noticeable audible refinement and better build quality. I don't think they're really in...

    Bowers&Wilkins new flagship the P9!

I think headphones like these, catering to the higher end "lifestyle" segment, will always be polarizing especially for headphone enthusiasts. I do really like mine, although I feel they are overpriced by at least $200 for what you ultimately get. But they're certainly not terrible or the worst...

    Bowers&Wilkins new flagship the P9!

*EDIT - nevermind, late to the email w/promo code received party. Anyway, looking forward to it.

    Bowers&Wilkins new flagship the P9!

Acquired taste for sure. Took me a little while to start appreciating them. Overpriced but still worth it to me all things considered.   Pushing the pads backwards a bit helped reduce the bass boominess, which also made it a bit more comfortable to wear with glasses. For my ears, the earpad...

    Bowers&Wilkins new flagship the P9!

Had these for about a week now. The "mid-bass hump" was evident depending on recording (seemed to negatively affect certain male voices).   Now having used them for many hours, either my ears/brain have adjusted or maybe the pads/speakers have been broken in a bit, but the bass is not as...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

Yes that really differs from person to person and what you think is a reasonable cost to pay for what most (non-audiofool) people would consider very little change in sound. (I'm happy with my home theater setup, and I find myself consuming more streaming video so not much of a need...

Noob looking to get first full-size. Questions about HD-600

Unless you're planning on eventually building up to a system that's able to make the most of the HD600,and you'd rather not bother with the wallet-ache of this (overpriced) hobby, you may be better off with the Phillips X2 as others have mentioned. It's great unamped, and after trying it out I...

Cypher Labs Theorem 720 DAC: A New Portable 24/192 USB/iDevice/Android DAC & Amp

Nevermind, as David @ Cypher Labs pointed out, I can just use the Lightning USB cable that came with the Air along with the Mini USB adapter supplied with the Theorem - I had forgotten that it was in the box. Actually much more convenient to use it with the longer cable.

Cypher Labs Theorem 720 DAC: A New Portable 24/192 USB/iDevice/Android DAC & Amp

The Theorem works fine when connected to an iPad Mini, but I keep getting "device not certified" warning and thus a failed connection to the new iPad Air. Is there any way I can get it to work with the Air?   I am using the included lightning connector cable, and I have emailed Cypher Labs...

Shure announcing new SRH1540 in Tokyo today! - Head-Fi TV

I've been following your (and MacedonianHero's) documented adventure in a couple of threads and also tried the M500, HD380, Momentum, P7, HP50, and now 1540 in roughly that order within the last month or so. In looking for a comfortable closed headphone with great sound quality that's easily...

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

That was my review at Amazon. Maybe I'm the only one (so far) who found the pads too shallow and the headband uncomfortable. Worth trying out for yourself if easily returnable, because they do sound great.   I commented on my Amazon review that I preferred the P7 in the end, but now after...

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

Pretty good sound quality, solid build quality. It has a decently "big" sound, I guess that's what RoomFeel is supposed to be.   Not much bass extension, maybe iPad is not powerful enough source by itself.   But big comfort issue - the earpads are too shallow so my ears are pressed against...
