Hifiman HE-4 Impressions Thread
The HE-4 is so great. I am working on selling my TH-X00s, they were good, but the HE-4 is just on a different level from everything I have tried in the mid-fi price range. Gonna get a Lyr 2 and some nice tubes for it I think.- Rinx7

HiFiMAN RE-600s are what I generally use on the go. I like them a lot they are pretty dark and mid heavy, but are a nice complement to the more treble heavy presentation that the HE-4 has.- Rinx7

They can drive it fine. The Magni is kinda bright though, and the HE-4 is already really bright. I don't know if it would be the best combination. I am buying myself a Lyr 2 for Christmas and I am interested to see how it performs.- Rinx7

So tempted to grab a Schiit Lyr and some Mad Dogs over Christmas to be companions for my HE-4. Has anyone around here tried either?- Rinx7

***NEW*** RHA (Reid Heath Acoustics) T10i IEM to debut at IFA 2014
Well he does own the 701 and 712. I am not really surprised that he finds the bass bigger than he is used to.- Rinx7

Interested to hear how they perform as far as noise reduction/microphonics go. Glad to hear they are built like tanks, and that the filters do their jobs.- Rinx7

***NEW*** RHA (Reid Heath Acoustics) T10i IEM to debut at IFA 2014
We'll probably just have to wait and see when the RHA T10i eventually comes out how the sound compares. I like the fact that the RHA has a ridiculously good warranty. The DUNU can't beat that.- Rinx7

***NEW*** RHA (Reid Heath Acoustics) T10i IEM to debut at IFA 2014
Wow... I really want a pair of these. I loved the RE-400 to death, but they are just so flimsy I have had 3 pairs fail on me in the past 2 years. I would love to have another IEM with a reference signature that actually is durable.- Rinx7

The 6V and 12V is referring to the heater voltage. The 200V I referenced is the actual plate voltage. The Lyr runs its heaters at a standard 6V just like the Ember. The plate voltage of the Ember, however, is a meager 48V which isn't enough for most tubes to perform optimally (most tubes have...- Rinx7

The Lyr 2 should be better than the Ember. It has way higher voltage going to its tubes meaning that they should amplify with lower distortion than the Ember. The main issue with the Lyr was the power supply to the tubes was causing noise because it was AC. Schiit changed it to DC and made some...- Rinx7

Yeah I am thinking of getting a Lyr 2 to replace it, but I need to figure out my money situation before I drop $450 on a new amp.- Rinx7
