Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

I think he said it's nearly the same with a small difference in tonality. If removing padding reproduces, say, 90-95% of the sound, I think it's worth trying the mod, especially prior to the 660 price cuts.

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

Yah, I guess that would be like the 650 being rebranded as the 6XX. :nerd:

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

Zeos reviewed the 660s and said they were better than the 600s and then he reviewed the 58X and said they were basically the 660s and was complaining about he wasted $500 of his own money: Z Reviews: HD 58X He discovered this by removing foam from the 58X and not adding anything. The 58X are...

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

I use the 560s for classical music but now that I'm moving around for work, it's kind of a hassle to take multiple cans. The 6XX pretty much work for every genre. If the 660s can build off that, then I'll have my endgame headphones. Maybe I'll use the advice above and invest in a nicer DAC &...

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

    I wish I had a K9 Pro. :beerchug: I have the K5 Pro.

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

Yes, is that correct? Isn't that what the HD 600s are for? Reference studio monitors? That's what I assumes Zeos meant that he will compare all other headphones to the HD 600s.

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

Meaning, most accurate and unadulterated sound that you would use for studio monitoring. I've seen the term used a few times: The first time I heard it was when I was researching the 560s and if I come across where, I will link the review. Is there another word for this in the audiophile...

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

To be fair, I never said better; I said most technical. Being a newbie to the field, I get my information from DMS, Z-Reviews and other YouTubers: DMS: HD580, HD600, HD650, HD6XX Z Reviews: HD 660s As for better, from what people have said, it seems like I should be fine with the 6XX...

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

I thought the HD 600 was the most technical and hence its use as a reference?

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

I can see how what I wrote above doesn't make sense. My plan was to gift my 6XX to my brother and I would buy a nicer pair. That's why I asked if I should get the 600, 650 or 660s. Basically, give myself an upgrade in the process. I'm currently in DC and won't be back in NY for a couple of...

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

I came across many people saying the same thing about the HD 600. Pairing it with a tube amp makes a lot of difference. Okay, I'll look into it. I looked at Schiit but they were quite expensive (compared to FiiO).

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

I have a FiiO K5 Pro ESS. I just bought that a few months ago. I don't know if this is the right term but I'm looking for an endgame can that I can use and never be disappointed with. I don't know if I have to get the HD800 for that but I would have to save up for a long time to justify buying...

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

I'm relatively new to the audiophile world so excuse me if my terminology is not correct but I'll try to describe it as best as I can. I suppose a bit of both. If you're familiar with the 560s, the opposite of that! To me, the 6XX are just very calming, smooth to listen to. The 6XX allow me to...

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

Another question, any reason to buy the 650 if I already have the 6XX?

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 660s for someone that likes 650/6XX

Sorry, I should've specified the price. Ideally, max would be $300. Since the HD 660 s2 came out, Sennheiser is heavily discounting the 660s. At the moment, they're $300 just about everywhere.
