Hey everyone!   My ATH-A500s have a short in their cable and I've had them for about 5 years, so I'm starting to look at some replacements.  I have a better paying job now so I'm thinking about upgrading to DT 770 Pros or something... But I know a few headphones out there have detachable...

those don't look to be desirable for me.  i guess the shure se215 are my best bet.

do they have a similar sound to the RE-0 and Hippo VB?

I have the worst luck with cables.  In one year I have gone through a pair of RE-0 and two pairs of Hippo VBs and in all of them the cable has shorted out.   I use my headphones...excessively.  I am very careful to not toss them around, pull on them or damage them, but I do use my headphones...

ive got 2 people messaging me who want to buy the headphones and i ordered some hippo VBs.  if they have the tools to fix it for cheap, ill sell it to them for a good price (for both of us).

interesting.  investigating now.   edit: they broke about 2 weeks after amazon covered it.  as far as i can tell, the shipper only covers things for 7 days after delivery. the seller was DBROTH.  are they an authorized dealer?

bought them from amazon and ive heard they wont cover it and headfi says amazon isnt a liscensed dealer or something so they wont cover it either.  ive seen it several times in comments on a few different sites, including amazon itself.

i dont know how to solder soooo i guess im just buying new headphones.  rats =[

i went and i looked at the appreciation thread but im a little bit concerned about actually doing that.  is it difficult to change cables?  i dont have any of the tools needed and im really not used to spending 40 dollars on just cables.  i thought 80 dollars was a lot for the re-0s and im kinda...

it would appear that the cable is the problem on my re-0.  could you please post detailed instructions about how to re-cable it?  ive never done anything like this before.  please assume i have NONE of the tools or fore-knowledge to re-cable it.  i just cant imagine that buying a new pair would...

love trance and electronic music in general.  i got some RE-0s back in December from Amazon and the right ear-phone just stopped working on me earlier this week.  from what ive seen online, im SOL cause amazon wont fix it and neither will head-direct or hifi man or whatever is going on there...
