Laiv Harmony µDAC, Discrete Balanced R-2R DAC
You will hear yourself once you get it :) I listen to NOS in 99% of time because sounds more natural.- rafabro

Real life experience with Harmony shows that NOS mode has more "air" between phantom sound sources. + lower extension OS mode gives harder bass but is less extended. One or another, remote control is in the box and you can switch between modes with every song as often you like.- rafabro

Orgy of Capacitors: The Cap Thread
Of course, my mistake. It should be 200uF both (or 220uF)- rafabro

Technically bipolar capacitors are (internally) made of two polar capacitors. So you could get two polars (100uF both), join them like that -++- (positive+ connected together) and you will get non polar 100uF capacitor. Any electrolytic capacitor. ;)- rafabro

I would say in most of DAC 5V is so called "hand shake" to confirm connection. Even if is not used for any signal transmission. Is what it is. If 5V is required by uDAC then cable has to provide.- rafabro

Is it still about Bryston preamp? Is it for in signal patch cap or power decouple? The above ecap's are mostly used in speakers crossovers. I never test them in signal patch. AN Kaisei non polar are one of good ones for sure. https://www.hificollective.co.uk/catalog/-c-61_68_462.html There is...- rafabro

Yeah, so that clearly suggests what I said about power being delivered by the cable or Mac USB.- rafabro

I don't value Cross Cap's at all. It's a poor dry sounding cap. Like most of the Jantzen caps. Auricap XO, Mundorf EVO Oil. Jupiter. But gets pricey. I would use Vishay for bypassing electrolytes.- rafabro

Are you using the same cables every time? It suggests problem with the power provided by USB- rafabro
