I know this is an old thread but maybe someone can help. The only time I can get me 2021 MacBook Pro to recognize the connected Gustard U16 via USB is if I insert a USB hub in between. With a simple USB cord it doesn't work. Suggestions??
Thanks,
David

Are you using the same cables every time?
It suggests problem with the power provided by USB

I did have success with an older MacBook Pro and a USB A- USB B cable but with a newer MacBook and a USB C cable I have to use a hub to get the computer to recognize the U16.
Yeah, so that clearly suggests what I said about power being delivered by the cable or Mac USB.

So a USB A > USB B cable transfers power but a USB C > USB B doesn't? The hub I have inserted into the second scenario is not a powered hub.
Then it is unusual. Try different cables maybe.

I have tried numerous USB A > USB C cables with no luck. Suggestions on a brand/model that does provide power? Thanks.
Any ordinary one should.
It is weird.

You're right. They should work but no USB A > USB C cables have so far.
