Not quite mainstream sound like sony etc, but a little warmer than gen I and a little less resolution. But still epic by consumer oriented headphone standards.

Yeah I am very tempted to mod these for balanced use, and also tempted to travel 10 hours (total trip time) to go and get the last pair of Gen II pair in the country, for out door use. Then just get a pair of Focal Elegia and I'm done! 🤣😅

So my right ear cup on the gen II h6 just decided to stop playing bass and just play crackles instead. So returned them to the shop from where they came (just had enough warranty left after 22 months). All they have left in the whole country (Finland) is one pair of gen I and one pair of gen II...

Ok I'm going to get this thread back on topic! All the Sony MDR 1000x series I find to be overrated, as well as the Bose quiet comfort series. Don't like any of the open back Akg series either, people say they are comfortable but I find them weird feeling on my head, like they don't touch all...
