Home cooked headphones - Come one come all! Anyone welcome
Do you have a link to that driver? Asked you about it on the r/Headphones subreddit but you said you can't share links there.- Nixon

Home cooked headphones - Come one come all! Anyone welcome
Assembled them this morning and giving them a test over a coffee. Still burning in but they're definitely more open sounding with a bigger soundstage than the AliExpress housings.Bass isn't quite as pronounced but I think that might be a mix of them burning in and the Grado G pads that usually...- Nixon

Felt like I was cheating a bit using a pe-made set of housings with the Grado Upgrade Kit from Aliexpress so modeled my own set with skeletonised sides out of curiosity to see if it made any noticible difference to soundstage. Chucked the model through Keyshot to render some glamour shots while...- Nixon

Obscure Chinese DAPs
Had the Zishan Z4 and the Zisan Z5 for a week now and feel like i've listened enough to make a decision on them. They're fairly similar in audio quality, other than the Z4 being a bit warmer than the Z5 with slightly better bass while the Z5 is a bit brighter and the highs like the sizzle of...- Nixon

Bought one of the Aliexpress Grado Upgrade Kits with the aluminium cups to put some of the Peerless HPD-50N25PR00-32-ND in as it was advertised to take a 50mm driver. Sadly they're a bit too thick to fit as it seems the maximum thickness of the 50mm part of the driver is 6mm. Only ones I had...- Nixon

DIY Earbuds
Marathoned my way through the thread and just ordered way too much stuff from Aliexpress. Looking forward to testing these three drivers which seem to get mentioned as decent: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004043856343.html?spm=a2g0o.order_detail.order_detail_item.9.1cf9f19cE5xjlQ...- Nixon

Obscure Chinese DAPs
I find I have them at around the same volume (35 to 40ish) when listening to it balanced with my Sennheiser HD650. Still comparing audio and waiting for some new IEMs to arrive tomorrow so I can compare a bit more but so far can't notice a huge difference between the two but I do find myself...- Nixon

Obscure Chinese DAPs
Yeah, so with my Z4 I can plug in a 3.5mm unbalanced set of headphones then swap to a 2.5mm set of balanced headphones just fine. With the Z5 if I have it set in "balanced" mode, the 3.5mm jack just doesn't output audio. Same it I turn "balanced" off, the 3.5mm unblanced outputs audio but the...- Nixon

Still comparing audio but suprisingly close between the two so far. Was worried the RT6863D wouldn't sound great but enjoying it so far. UI is a lot "less bad" on the Z5 too but still not great. The extra two buttons make a big difference in navigating the player. Few things that caught me out...- Nixon

Built a pair of Aurorus Audio Borealis clones last year with the Peerless HPD-50N25PR00-32-ND and finally got around to treating them to a nicer AliExpress headband. Really confortable compared to my last one, just a bit sad that it arrived wth a few nicks in the leather of the headband. Paired...- Nixon

Obscure Chinese DAPs
Does any chinese manufacturer make a screenless dap like the Zishan Z1 or the Walnut V2S? Had a hunt around Aliexpress and DHGate and can't find anyting still being manufactured other than the Altmann Tera but the price of that is rediculous.- Nixon

Home cooked headphones - Come one come all! Anyone welcome
Been listening to them for the the last hour and so far quite enjoying them for vocal tracks. Fairly mid forward though I think that's maily as the headband I'm using doesn't have the greatest clamping pressure so not getting the greatest seal with the Grado G Pads. Drivers are still burning in...- Nixon
