Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Guys why is there so little talk about the output stage of the Qutest when a lot of companies making DACs make a big thing about the quality of op amps etc and the output stage and some like Geshelli labs offer op amp upgrades etc ? Is the output stage of the Qutest considered to be one of its...

    Eversolo DAC-Z6/Z8: Impressions and Discussion

probably not what owners want to hear but just wanted to say I moved on from my Z8 to a Chord Qutest powered by a linear power supply. A much more expensive setup of course. I still think the Z8 is a great DAC and one of the nicest ESS Sabre implementations I have heard - very musical and fun...

Well I can confirm that the Native DSD setting in Innuos does NOT work with Qutest - Innuos is a Linux based server so maybe that is the reason

My Innuos streamer offers two settings for handling DSD output to a DAC - which of these should I choose when using Qutest ? 1. DSD over PCM 2. Native DSD

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Hey guys - I’m a fan of the audiophile label 2L and they have some amazing recordings available to purchase as hi res downloads. Some of my favourites were recorded straight to DXD and are offered as DXD downloads. But can the Qutest play DXD format ?

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Thanks for your thoughts - yes I have read the entire thread actually so am well aware of RW’s preference/recommendation to use optical- alas my Innuos server/streamer is usb only- it’s actually Ethernet only as well, no wi-fi. I suppose I could use a DDC to try to get optical out into the...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Does anyone else watch Hans Beekhuyzen on YouTube? He’s made some interesting videos over the last few months about the reasons why network switches and Ethernet filters can impact audio. Much appears to do with jitter. I’ve found it interesting to note my own experiences here. Even though Rob...

Your System’s Silent Hero: iFi launches LAN iPurifier Pro under new SilentPower brand!

I forgot that I had a spare ifi Lan isilencer sitting around and today put it into my hi fi chain right after the router; so my chain is now router to ifi lan isilencer to lan isilencer pro (IPP) to EE8 switch to another lan isilencer. Seems to work well. YMMV, so yes in total I am using 3...

Your System’s Silent Hero: iFi launches LAN iPurifier Pro under new SilentPower brand!

Interesting ! I have N8 + Forester but use it AFTER the Ifi iPurifier Pro (powered by ifi x upgraded SMPS) and like what I am hearing. So for me, I placed IPP right after the router then the N8 after the IPP

It runs warm even in England where it’s cold right now ! And no it doesn’t run any cooler when not streaming.

Thank you Rob much appreciated- so in the simplest layperson friendly language, only white and green Qutest filters use the full potential of all the taps?

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Guys - I have tried to plough through as many of these 400+ posts as possible but I couldn't find a clear answer (apologies if I missed it) to this question ? @Rob Watts Do all the Qutest filters use the full processing power - i.e. the max taps? Again, sorry if I missed where someone already...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

So I know I’m really late to the party but I have had my Qutest a week now, bought from Peter Tyson in the UK (excellent service). I wanted to say a personal thank you to @Rob Watts because I have been on a long and frustrating DAC journey over the last 8 years or so. I tried numerous ESS based...
