Cables dilemma for my Stax 4040

I was talking with my local Stax dealer and he told me that even Van den Hul The Orchid (it is told to be quite neutral) is not good choice for Stax cause it is grainy. He recommend me Transparent Audio cables. I could buy Music Link Plus. The higher models are out of question for me. I also...

Cables dilemma for my Stax 4040

Thanks minimus!   I've read that  Van den Hul The SECOND (XLR version) is worth of trying in my setup.

Cables dilemma for my Stax 4040

I've recently bought a second-hand Stax 4040 combo (older model 006t not 006tII). My DAC is Mytek Stereo96. Before that I used Beresford DAC and headamp with Denon AH-D2000. The new set Mytek/Stax opened my eyes how audio staff can be sensitive to cables... I use cheap PC AC power cord and...

Lake People V181: a new balanced amp <$1000

I agree with markm1111. I do not need another DAC. In both V200 and in a balanced V200 version (in future) DAC should be optional. IMHO this 2 top amps shouldn't have any DAC on board... buying good amp most of us have already a DAC.

REVIEW: Meier Audio Concerto headphone amp

Sorry for OT @chi2 how would you describe your stax combo against meier with yours dynamic headphones (especially K701)? I can see that source is the same in both. Is it night and day difference? Why did you buy concerto having top stax setup?

    REVIEW: Audio-GD Roc

Is ROCK worth of buying if I would use it with XLR input only (with ballanced headphones)? I have Mytek DAC with XLR out and I'm looking for balanced amp. Heaving read this and other threads concerning ROC I'm not sure if there is point to buy this amp if you are not going to use it with DAC...

    Mytek Stereo96 DAC

@Headphony What XLR-RCA cable do you use to connect Mytek to RPX33 or Graham Slee? Did you turn down internal input gain trimpots (turn it down for unbalanced consumer in accordance to manual)? Also did you change jumpers JP2, JP4 (output XLR volume control)? Did you have an opportunity...

XLR or RCA - what headamp for Mytek STERO96DAC ?

I've got recently Mytek Stereo96DAC. I use it with Denon AH-D2000. Generally speaking sound of this combo is quite good but I sometimes feel it a little bit too dry and sometimes I hear sibilants (probably caused by bad recordings). I thing I need new headamp :-) (max 1000 EUR) and my...

Test of pro headphone amplifiers :Lake People wins

I've got recently Mytek Stereo96 DAC. Could someone tell me if there is any sonic difference between Lake People G100 and HPA V100 (also by Lake People). I would like to connect to my DAC via XLR only. I'm not sure if there is any reason to buy V100 (250 EUR more than G100) instead of G100...
