    Chord Hugo

I thought there was only one version for the enlarged RCA holes, though people have been saying several versions. Look around the RCA holes, not much space left for widening. The Chord Company got the third batch of the Hugo before they brought up the modified Anthem Tuned Aray. I emailed and...

    Chord Hugo

I don't think the Sarum will fit the Hugo unless the Chord Company gives it a modification with the plugs. I have a pair of Tuned Aray Indigo. I have to remove part of the outer plastic ring around the plugs (it's quite soft though) to have them fit. My Hugo is the enlarged RCA port version...

I concur that the EC BA will further improve the sound quality when paired with Hugo (as DAC) and HD800 (with Cardas Clear balance upgrade cable). Although HD800 sounds fantastic straight out of Hugo's 6.3, there's no deny that a capable headphone amp can let out the potential of headphones with...

Thanks for the info. However, I am more concentrating on those streamers or digital transporters that can natively output hi-res (196 kHz or higher) data stream via coaxial. Hydra-X, for instance, is in fact a DDC. But, you're right. So far, too few resources that are higher than 196kHz. It's...

Thank you for the prompt reply (or should I say lightning fast? ;)) So is this chip a customized one or just another out-of-the-shelf one? After all, devices with an USB input that can accept up to 32/384 aren't that many so far... And am I right to say that if an USB cable that is...

Actually what Rob said was that "theoretically" the Hugo's coaxial can accept up to that spec. He did not test it physically, but rather simulated in the lab. The reason is that so far there is no device that can output 32/384 via coaxial. I tested it using the Aurender S10. It could not do...

Mr. Watts, thank you for bringing up an unique and innovative product as the Hugo. I have been enjoying the sound for quite a few weeks. I did a serious listening test for my own recreation between my Berkeley Audio Design Alpha DAC and a loaned Hugo. Below is my old set up. I was using a...

Vision Ears and Rhines Custom Monitors (formerly Compact Monitors)

If I can quantify the difference between the demo and the final product, I would say 10-15% for VE4 and its demo. However, for VE6, I would say 20-25% for X1, and 10-15% for X2. In other words, I concur that indeed there is a substantial difference between the X1 and the demo. I myself now rely...

It's a pity that you have a fitting problem. As I recall, you also had the same issue earlier with the VE2/3/4 demo. It's indeed hard to get a fair assessment while the seal is not tight or you even have to hold the ear pieces just to barely wear them.

Congrats, I believe it's worth waiting. And I find myself switch to X1 more and more often.

Owing to the positive feedbacks from the VE3&4 and the fantastic idea of providing the choice of upgrade, VE now is kinda overloaded with orders. Plus they would not trade quality for speed. The lead time has been increased to 6-8 weeks recently. So I think you can expect that. Concerning the...

Got my VE6 XC (upgrade from VE4) and the Hugo (the 1st edition of revised chassis) and have been listening to them attentively these days. I had listened to both separately and as a combo.   While I was auditioning the VE6, I didn't like the X1 either straight from the AK120 or with the Hugo...

Yeah, I agree with you on the X2 pairing well with the Hugo. I tested the X2 along with the Whiplash TWau Reference and the Hugo. The Whiplash cable gave the X2 extra overall authority. X1 plus the Hugo is a little too much to my taste, mainly on the bass department. And don't bother with the...

Yeah, you are right, I checked my note, up is for X2. My apology and thank you for the correction.

When you wear them properly, switch down is X1, while up X2. (corrected at 4/5, thank you maibuN) I've acquired the Roxanne UF and been listening attentively to it for the past 2 days. Previously I've borrowed the VE6 demo for 3 days of private listening. VE6, regardless of the price...
