Westone Customs: Never Again
Westone repair service, still crap! I finally found my ES2 customs in a moving box. They were safely packed with ventilation and dessicant. When I plugged them into a sound source for a listen, the exact problem that I paid Westone repair „service“ to fix years ago is still present. I can take...- Laptopia

Westone Customs: Never Again
I have only just read your question, sorry. I have heard rather negative things recently about Westone customer service. Lots of smiles and faux politeness but undependable.- Laptopia

JVC HANC250 Replacement Earpads?
The earpads on my JVC HANC250 are getting ragged, and the replacement earpads offered via the usual suspects (Amazon, eBay, etc.) appear to be of very poor quality. JVC no longer makes replacement earpads for these, if they ever did. Has anybody had success jury rigging replacement earpads...- Laptopia

Westone Customs: Never Again
I have been a Head-Fier since 2006 and own a few custom monitors, and my Westone ES2s are the only ones in the collection that have developed problems. Getting them to fit properly when new was a PITA, and it has been downhill from there. My ES2s are now in for the second repair in the last...- Laptopia

Westone ES3X Appreciation Thread
What is the best (read least expensive) source for Westone ES3s? I am hoping to mail my ES2s to Westone to clone, because they fit well, but the fit was achieved only after a lot of shipping back and forth.- Laptopia

Westone ES5
I can see that these are "deep canal" earpieces. Did you ask specifically for that, or did they know to do it? (Customs with shallow canals just don't work for me.) Cheers. Quote:- Laptopia

Network Security in a Hotel Setting?
Thanks. Since I have the Cat6 cable connected to the internet port on the router and not one of the LAN connections on the router, I am guessing that the rest of the users of the hotel LAN aren't able to see into our own little LAN here in the room, due to the presence of the router? (If it...- Laptopia

Network Security in a Hotel Setting?
Indeed. What is the wired portion of the router doing for us (if anything) from a security perspective? It's not just a dumb hub, after all.- Laptopia

Network Security in a Hotel Setting?
My family and I are staying in an extended stay hotel while we are moving. The hotel has free but unsecured wired and wireless internet access. I checked it out, and sure enough, it's basically like connecting to an insecure, open LAN. I was able to see about fifty guest computers on the...- Laptopia

the Audiologists impressions thread (pun most definitely intended ;) )
Anybody have a positive experience with an audiologist in the Washington DC metro area, one who understands custom IEMs and can make reliable earmolds or impresssions? A few years ago I went with a UE-recommended audiologist, and I had to provide quite a bit of coaching for the "pro" who...- Laptopia
