iPhone analog gain?
Does anyone know if recent iPhones have analog gain control or is the gain controlled digitally by reducing the dynamic range. Thanks.- KosanRio

16 Ohm headphones on a 4 Ohm output (RHA MA750i on iPhone 6s Plus)
I just bought a pair of RHA MA750i's to use primarily with my iPhone 6s Plus. I didn't realize that it actually has something like a 4-5ohm impedance output, all my previous Android phones have been like 1-2Ohm. I know there is that 1/8th rule, for example in theory I should be using at the...- KosanRio

Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (Headphones, IEMs, Amps, DACs)
Hey guys I'm looking for cheap IEMs that can do a decent amount of sub-bass and are at least on par with Xioami Piston 3's in terms of audio quality. Any suggestions?- KosanRio

LG V10 : New ESS Chipped Flagship Android Phone from LG
I seriously can't see how Viper would disable the amplifier... It's all software/Android audio routing that is done way before it gets anywhere close to the DAC/Amp. Also I can confirm the Mixer_paths.xml/ALSAMixer method is some form of Analog gain control as I can hear the noise floor change...- KosanRio

I feel like people don't understand what Viper really is. It's just a system-wide equalizer/sound effect app. People act like it just instantly increases audio quality or something... in fact you could argue Viper actually makes audio quality worse.- KosanRio

LG V10 : New ESS Chipped Flagship Android Phone from LG
Still standing by the fact that setting your Mixer_paths.xml or AlsaMixer to setting to 0 is the same as high-impedance mode, the cable and the AlsaMixer/Mixer_paths.xml method sound exactly the same to me with the exact same volume, on top of the fact that When you plug high-impedance...- KosanRio

You sure whatever "voice mail ringing hack" isn't actually shutting the ESS DAC off and enabling the Qualcomm one?- KosanRio

LG V10 : New ESS Chipped Flagship Android Phone from LG
Pretty sure the amp is always active when hi-fi mode is enabled judging from the different volume settings in Mixer_paths, and there is no high-gain setting on the amp, just values from 0-80. Plugging in a high-gain device sets that value in AlsaMixer (or Mixer_paths) to 0. Aux is 13, and normal...- KosanRio

LG V10 : New ESS Chipped Flagship Android Phone from LG
Found a way to change analog gain value without having to mess around with editing Mixer_paths.xml and what not. Assuming you're rooted download ALSAMixer from Google Play install ALSA from in the app and make sure you select alsa_amixer controls as your Mode in settings in the ALSAMixer App...- KosanRio

Anyone here able to compare the V10 to a Fiio E10k? because if this phone can come close to an E10K I'm buying one right now... Also looking on XDA it seems like you can edit Mixer_paths.xml and make the lower gain modes go to the same analog hardware volume as "Line out" and "High-Gain"...- KosanRio

Fake PortaPros from Amazon? Made in Mexico?
I ordered a pair of Koss PortaPros directly from Amazon... somethings a bit strange about this pair though. The little screw on the left side is just a plastic bump, the inside of the plastic is very clean looking without any plastic mold lines, all of the text is a tiny bit bigger than my...- KosanRio

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
I was wondering... do one you think you could donate me your shirt clip from your MH1C? I have a pair I got in bulk packaging from eBay and they didn't come with the damn shirt clip and it'd be really nice to have for work where I do a lot of physical labor and moving around... I'd be willing to...- KosanRio

New HTC One M8 audio review
So I finally upgraded to 5.0 Lollipop on my Google Play Edition One M8. I've noticed that the "popping" I got in 4.4.4 from bass beats around 50 or 60hz are gone... Though now I get some sort of amp clipping when turning the amp up with FauxSound. It only clips when there's stupid amounts of...- KosanRio
