    Sony MDR-1A - Sony's latest update on the 1R

Have to say that the input connector on the headphone is a bit annoying. Can't use a longer cable I have lying around here when I want to lean back and the V-moda boom mic doesn't fit properly either. That's a bit of a con there. Thankfully I have other headset solutions... still...

    Sony MDR-1A - Sony's latest update on the 1R

And I finally have my pair of 1A's as well. I wrote a longer comparison elsewhere but I very much enjoy them. Not to the extent that I'd just pack up my 1Rs and sell them, as I think both cans have their respective pros and cons, despite their similar sound. The bass in the 1A makes them more...

    Sony MDR-1A - Sony's latest update on the 1R

^  Didn't you already get a pair? :p This is slightly off-topic but Dustin SE (and DK) is also having a deal on another pair of Sony headphones, the MDR-XB950 AP which they sell for roughly $77/€63. I've never listened to the XB-series before, but I'm a bit of a closet basshead (or rather...

    Sony MDR-1A - Sony's latest update on the 1R

Yes, SE. Hopefully the change in sound signature will be to my liking then, as I couldn't really find a store I'd knew would have them available for testing. Interesting fact: I got a good deal on the 1R back when I bought them as well (was my first expensive headphone) but this 1A deal is even...

    Sony MDR-1A - Sony's latest update on the 1R

I too jumped on the Dustin Home deal right after Christmas. As I agree with the general critism of the 1R, it will be interesting to see how the 1A sounds like, since I use the 1R as my general desktop headphone whenever I'm not using speakers.

    Sony MDR-1R series MK2

Thanks! : ) It was this kind of thing I wanted to hear. Seems like it could be fun tracking down a MK2 model some time in the future.

    Sony MDR-1R series MK2

So, the MK2 are not available where I live (to my knowledge at least) but do they actually sound any different than the normal 1R? I remember reading this thread before and never really got a complete answer to that question.

New Sony portable headphone - the MDR-ZX750!

That's too bad, I had quite the high hopes for the MDR-ZX750 myself. Love the look of it, and since I do really like the MDR-1R I wanted a portable alternative with a similar style. (Bringing the 1R outside makes me really nervous). Glad we finally see some thoughts about these cans in english ...

The JVC HA-S680 - S400's and S500's big brother is here!

So, I received my 680s yesterday, and I realize it's a bit early too write much about them because I haven't burned them in that much, but my initial thoughts are as follows: Comfort: They're bigger than I thought they were going to be. In fact, they're a bit too big for my head - so comfort...

The JVC HA-S680 - S400's and S500's big brother is here!

Quote: Hmm. That kind of USB DAC is not really an option for me right now, as I use my current DAC for the PS3 & XB360 that also lives on my desktop. (PC & game consoles -> toslink switch -> DAC/headphone combo -> Audioengine N22 amp for my speakerf setup). But maybe in the future I'll...

The JVC HA-S680 - S400's and S500's big brother is here!

I've got a Sony Walkman A818 & A865 for portable use, and a chinese SMSL DAC/headphone amp combo for desktop use. I think the Sonys are considered warm?

Portable Comparison: Koss Porta Pro vs Sennheiser PX 100-II

Good and well written review. I've sadly had no experience with the PX100-II, but now I kind of want to try them. Even though I don't I need another pair of portable headphones.   I also agree on your description on the Porta Pro. I used to see them all the time a couple of years ago and...

The JVC HA-S680 - S400's and S500's big brother is here!

Just signed up to say that thanks to you enthusiastic guys in this thread, I've put down an order for a S680   The S500 have been keeping my head warm throughout the winter season so far, lack of comfort notwithstanding. Looking forward to check these out as I have both the S400 & S500 - and...
