What is everybody's favorite Solid State Headphone Amp?
It's not mine; i heard it at a meet and it is certainly Summit fi. It is unfortunate that one has to play at high stakes level to get good sound from SS. :relaxed: The piety is bit of an outlier, while not perfect at least comprises something i want to listen to for only a few hundred. if you...- jh4db536

What is everybody's favorite Solid State Headphone Amp?
My favorite SS amp that is Not astronomical in price is the Nitsche Piety. After that, i am a huge advocate of using speakers amps as headphone amps... So All time best SS amp for me goes to the real Dartzeel NHB-108. i can count the SS amps on one hand that ive heard that can do the imaging...- jh4db536

Master Clock Talk
It is a master clock based upon the CX371a (type 71 kinda like a lower power 45) Directly Heated Triode and powered by UX280 full wave rectifier tube (type 80). It's basically a sinewave generator circuit which is adjusted like a radio tuner to get the desired frequency. It can output in excess...- jh4db536

Master Clock Talk
Ever wonder what happens when you feed a CDplayer the wrong clock frequency on purpose? I came across a DHT master clock mod (i have many types of these modules) where i could change the frequency in real time while the unit is playing as a digital transport. As you can see, the CD-880 requires...- jh4db536

NITSCH x Schiit Magni Piety - Impressions Thread
Thanks the Art cables RLS70 is a Siamese twin style specifically for HD800. The one I have is like 15' long and that works out because my 800 dedicated amp is a speaker amp. It's literally "pre war" status now lol. I have rls24 for hd6x0 (not twin style) also but certain vintage cable is...- jh4db536

there now it is sold. was a good deal. who knows how much you will have to spend to find a special hd600 like this one. I would've bought it myself if I didn't have a unicorn hd800- jh4db536

Sangaku DIY NuTube Headphone Amp / Preamp
I got my Vcaps directly from Victor while building a 8900 for someone else. I think the Vcaps are better in this case, because the Sangaku is already warm and bloomy. Vcaps are tighter sounding and probably as clear as it gets for couplers without spending More Megabucks. If i was using a...- jh4db536

Sangaku DIY NuTube Headphone Amp / Preamp
Another revision, i think this might be the final datapoint for me. The CuTF are burned in now. They lost that metallic tinge and starting to sound more 'normal' so i thought it needed a retune. I finally received my backordered parts to finish it. Ditched the last of the ceramic caps in the...- jh4db536

Sangaku DIY NuTube Headphone Amp / Preamp
 shipped it to the owner last week after the build. Got my taste of Elekit and to see how the automatic tube detection works Ultimately too complex of an amp for my taste. I like to mod and tinker with point to point amp. I cut my own plates to save $50 and put it into jupiters instead...- jh4db536

Sangaku DIY NuTube Headphone Amp / Preamp
Here is my Sangaku Amp that i've had for a month, i have deviated from the original BOM a bit due to personal preferences and parts availability Still unfinished due to parts being OOS but it functions. I just dont want to make another order for a $5 part so it's going to wait.- jh4db536
