Schiit Freya Impressions and Tube Rolling Thread
Schiit is aware that it runs hotter and they don't seem too concerned about it. Just be sure (as with the original Freya) to give the unit lots of breathing room, particularly if you're running it in tube mode.- Jamiee

Better features, improved overall sound... it is what it say's it is.... A Freya +. Some might say it's what Freya should have originally been, but I'm not going to get into that argument. So Is it worth the price of admission if you already have a v1 Freya? That's tough to answer and I...- Jamiee

So here's my initial impressions of Freya + A) Looks like a Freya... Other than the lack of a few chassis assembly screws along the top and an updated identification sticker on the back, it looks virtually identical to Freya v1. B) Front pannel LED lights... Because of the new LED light...- Jamiee

Got my Freya + today..... First Impression.... NOT a fan of the new "fastenerless" chasis design. Why? Because my unit shipped with a loose LED light lens (clear plastic piece) for the buffer/Gain selector LED's (It was rattling around inside the chassis). This is a new design from the...- Jamiee

With the right tubes my Freya v1 has been nearly dead silent, that said it has taken some fiddling around to find the right tubes to work with it. I'm currently using a pair ea. of Shuguang & Psvane CV181 treasures. I do look forward to receiving the Freya + (scheduled for delivery tomorrow)...- Jamiee

The New Schiit Audio Yggdrasil Impressions thread (read the first post)
Yggy tends to be characterized by some as a somewhat intimate sounding DAC and I'd generally agree with this. While it handles all genres well, I've found Live recordings (vocal, instrumental, or both) to be its forte and especially so where the recording has taken place in a smaller, more...- Jamiee

I run my Yggy & Freya combo fully balanced with a studio subwoofer and pair of studio monitors. The monitors have a -10dBV / +4dBu selector switch on them for adjusting the appropriate level. -10dBV is typically used when pairing consumer and pro audio gear together, and I find this to be the...- Jamiee

The New Schiit Audio Yggdrasil Impressions thread (read the first post)
All of the aftermarket audio grade fuses I've owned have had a noticeable direction to them (some more so than others) -- meaning orientation of the fuse while in the holder can affect sound quality. I don't know if the same can be said for the stock Yggy fuse, but I suspect its worth trying...- Jamiee

If you use something metalic (Steel, brass, etc...) as a weight it will act as a heatsink, pulling some of the heat away from the chassis. My stainless steel door stops with their thin rubber base manage to do this. Remove the rubber base and I'm sure they would become even more effective...- Jamiee

I've tried a few different items, but have found simple stainless steel door stoppers to be the most effective at deadening Freya's cabinet. They have a rubber bottom so won't slide around or scratch Freya's surface and have plenty of weight to hold Freya in place. Attractive..... not really...- Jamiee

Put some component weights on that Freya and you'll hear a significant improvement in focus and overall clarity. It may not be the prettiest approach, but you're ears will smile :L3000:- Jamiee

Again, no real hum or hiss related issues with my July Freya other than what's been specifically tube related. On the matter of gain..... two things.... 1. Yes I can confirm the tub gain is probably 8db over JFET Buffer --- not quite a doubling of the perceived volume. I was expecting...- Jamiee

Yeah, I usually have my volume set to between 35% & 65% on Freya for most listening sessions -- depending on how much I want to let my hair down :L3000: My previous solid state pre-amp (more of a straight volume control) didn't need quite as much, but it's not apples to apples with Freya so...- Jamiee
