    miniaturization: does it ever stop?

Somewhere, ergonomics flew out the window for the sake of miniaturization. I still use a number of vintage equipment and it just works smoother and better.

    Hakko tips with other brands

The xytronic 136/7 is a better iron than the hakko clone. It fits the correct hakko and plato tips perfectly.

    Bad, Bad ALPS RK097

Although I like the sound from panasonic evj's better than the alps, their accuracy sucks quite a bit also. Lets just say out of 100 pieces, only 9 were acceptable. I search quite a bit for tiny modular pots but none seem to exist. These cheap pots all seemed to be designed for car or home...

    Bad, Bad ALPS RK097

I had a repeating problem with the right channel being louder than the left. These little pots are crap. I wish they were modular so you can take a bunch of them apart and better match them.

the next 'step' up from free eagle?

It seems all the easy and intuitive pcb programs are proprietary to a certain board house. There are simple ones out there but support sucks and options are limited compared to eagle.

Anyone ever had their headphones damaged from an amp?

Yes, its usually under 4mv for both channels with nothing connected but what you said doesn't address the offset with music playing. I want to know what the maximum limit is. If I listen to music for an hour, that is 90-225mv offset for an hour straight.

Anyone ever had their headphones damaged from an amp?

Sennheiser hd580-650 seem very strong against some dc but I'm a tad worried about 16 to 32 ohm IEMS and such. With music playing, some amps without input or output caps show an output of 90-225mv at a steady rate according to my multimeter. I'm curious what the safe spot is and whether its...

Anyone ever had their headphones damaged from an amp?

I was talking more along the lines of damage from using a bad source that outputs dc.

Anyone ever had their headphones damaged from an amp?

With a lot of amps coming with no input or output caps to block dc offset, has anyone ever had their iems or headphones damaged?

    Cheap Starter Amp.

The BSG amp looks to be a regular cmoy with a gain jumper. The caffiene is nice but at the price you listed I'd spend a few more dollars for a Mini3. If you want a cheap cmoy either put a WTB in the sale forum or search on ebay for "cmoy".

Looking for a headphone with sennheiser smoothness but more bass

I'm not a fan of audio technicas. I sold my ath500,700 and 900 because each model disappointed me. They seem to have too much treble and no body. They do look nice though.

Looking for a headphone with sennheiser smoothness but more bass

I have a budget of about $300 +/- 50 bucks and I'm looking for a smooth sounding headphone with a lot of viceral bass. It doesn't have to hit the very low notes since I plan on using it on the go. Other than the DT770, are there any headphones with such a signature? I tried the HD650 but I...

lots of 'lytic caps ;) (local store had a sale)

Make sure those panasonics arent dried out. I had the exact ones from an ebay store. Used some to upgrade some of my cmoys and bass was pretty much gone. Almost as if there was no caps on the amp.
