Magni 3 Impressions
The Magni is a push pull amplifier which is more efficient plus they sound better than a class A in my opinion. Class AB amplifiers have a better rhythm and pace and get you moving. Class A amplifiers are biased very high and get very hot due to the transistor doing both the positive and...- huberd

HD-600 better than HD-650?
I would have to disagree, headphones are all about replicating the way a live performance sounds. I have listened to both headphones and the HD-650 is the same as being in a live performance with ear warmers on. No one can say that the HD-650 sounds natural and if anyone hears harshness in the...- huberd

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
You need to EQ the heck out of them. They lack bass like nobodies business. I would exchange them for a better headphone altogether since they sound horrendous.- huberd

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
The best thing that you can do is get or buy another headphone. The Elear is an overrated very forward honking sounding headphone that is very annoying.- huberd

Review by 'huberd' on item 'Focal Elear'
The Focal Elear have been the worst sounding headphone that I have heard so far. I absolutely hated them. They honked so much in my ears that I had to return them to Amazon after 3 weeks. They have a peak in the midrange that I couldn't digest. I was so happy that I got my $1000 dollar back. I...- huberd

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
I disagree, I found the Focal Elear to be a honky mid-rangy headphone, I was not able to stand them. They lack soundstage depth, width, height, bass and the treble is awful. They sound to me like a honking AM radio at full blast in my poor ears.- huberd

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
I agree, what is with the single jack? We can't balance the headphones unless you add another one on the other cup. Beyerdynamic is still a Mickey Mouse headphone company.- huberd

Meridian Explorer² Impressions Thread
I have a Gungnir and the Meridian Explorer 2 sounds smoother to my friend and I both. The Gungnir cost more and has more hardware packed inside but the truth is in the hearing. We also compared the Explorer 2 to the Explorer1 and it was difficult to tell which one was better for most songs. The...- huberd

Comparing the HD600 vs HD650
To get true good sound you will need to replace your sound card and use an external DAC. There is just too much noise inside a computer for an internal sound card to sound good. The external DAC should then be plugged into a good amplifier such as Schiit Audio Asgard 2.- huberd

Compared to the HD-700 they sound distorted and have no treble air or sound stage. I think this is what a lot of people like about this headphone.- huberd

I agree with your review. The T-90's are way to bright and lack bass. I have used both solid state and tubes. I have a Valhalla and an Asgard 2. I used a Meridian Explorer2 for a DAC.- huberd

Sennheiser HD700 Review
The HD-650 compared to the HD-700 do sound distorted and is audible when comparing the two side by side. I am not saying the HD-700 is better but I did notice what Purrin described in his review. He is very accurate with his review and spot on. The HD-700 however don't sound bad. I do enjoy them...- huberd

Tubes generally have more bass output that is the muddyness you describe. Solid State amps are more sterile sounding, less natural.- huberd
