After a day of listening through the DAC1 I am relieved to say that even the DAC1 does not make the HE400 treble uncomfortable. This is pretty great considering the K701s, DT770s and Denon Dx000 models all get rather piercing treble and tends to get really fatiguing after a couple of hours.

I think that odd angling has been mentioned earlier in the thread, some models are delivered like that. It happens with completely circular headphones. Its nothing to worry about, just bend it back in place.

Got my 400s through a tad too exciting flight today. That carry case is luckily really doing its job!    Now time to do extensive testing with the Benchmark DAC-1

Glad to see the HE-400s get a mention in the buying guide after the hardships its been through after the release! Perhaps it could have come with a mention that one should really get the velour pads with them
